Living Without A Vagina | BORN DIFFERENT

EMILY Green, 22, was born with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, which means she was born without a fully formed vagina. She explained to Truly: “One in five thousand women are born with it, it means I was born without a uterus and a fully formed vagina. I’ve got both ovaries, which hopefully are healthy, but I won’t be able to find that out for a few years yet.” Her mental health was also negatively affected by the diagnosis: “I was just humiliated and embarrassed by it.” Adding that: “I didn’t want people to judge me, I didn’t feel like a woman.” She was diagnosed at 16 years old and started on the treatment of dilation, but medical staff realised after a year that it wasn’t working as well as they’d hoped. So Emily decided to undergo surgery, which she described as “excruciating and really horrible.” Emily regularly blogs about her experience and has now found acceptance with other members of the MRKH community, where she can discuss the impact of the condition. “It's part of who I am, it is my story, I don't want to pretend that it’s not me, it is me.”

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone that has been so kind, encouraging and supportive. It was tough to share something so personal but I am so overwhelmed with the positivity from you all, I’m so touched. It means a lot to me that you guys took the time to watch the video and learn about this condition, and I’m so grateful for those that also took time to say such lovely things. You are the people that keep me going🥰 if you would like me to answer any questions then please feel free to ask❤️ would you guys like me to make YT videos or tiktoks with more info or to answer questions?

I was born with uterus didelphys which is two uteruses and two cervix with a vaginal septum. My condition is 1 in 4, 000, 000. They told me as a teen that having children would be very difficult/impossible. I’ve got three beautiful children and I’ve fought this battle with as much elegance as possible! You continue to do the same ❤️

The search algorithm has been weird lately. As a truck driver who is interested in astronomy and astrophysics, I was searching for topics concerning light photons that exit the surface of the sun and the possibility of it being what heats the corona, and here I am learning about something completely different that I hadn't learned about before, and now I have all kinds of questions about this condition syndrome). That said, good vibes and energy to you, and I hope you have many dignified years ahead of you. I should never have been a truck driver, but math and science was my worst subjects, and I mostly slept through those classes, so... 😴🛌🤣

My best friend when I was growing up had the same issue. She’s adopted 5 kids, two as infants. She’s been married for almost 38 years. She’s awesome and incredible.

1 in every 5, 000 women? That’s a lot more I would have guessed.

That must be so difficult, I can’t imagine the pain of the procedure. You’re so strong.

You have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. You're absolutely gorgeous! I'm sorry you endured pain, both physically and mentally along the way. Life and people can be cruel sometimes. I'm so glad you have a core group of people that love and care for you. Be genuine, be kind, and hopefully you will be paid in full. You're stunning!

Being a woman is so much more than having a 'normative' vagina.
Emily, you are a gorgeous, intelligent, and courageous woman.
Thank you for sharing your story. May you continue to heal, find those you can inspire, and live a long and healthy life.

That sucks, im sorry you're having to go through that, but I don't think you should feel embarrassed, it's not like you had any choice in the matter and if someone treats you poorly because of this, "good", its a quick way to learn they are not worth having in your life.

Just because you can't bring a new person to life into this world doesn't mean you can't give new life to a person who is already living.

The beauty of a woman is so much more than what she is able to do, it's also about how good she can make someone feel inside just with her presence alone.
