-- PRIMARY MUSCLE(S) INVOLVED --
Rectus Abdominis, External Abdominal Oblique, and Internal Abdominal Oblique
-- STARTING POSITION --
Against Gravity - Supine with legs raised to 90° of hip flexion
-- PALPATION AND STABILIZATION --
► Palpation - External Abdominal Oblique (Lower edge of rib cage) and Rectus Abdominis (Midway between sternum and pubis)
► Stabilization - None
--MOVEMENT AND RESISTANCE LOCATION/DIRECTION --
► Movement - Patient lowers legs slowly while therapist keeps a hand touching the posterolateral aspect of ilium to ensure the patient is maintaining a posterior pelvic tilt
► Resistance Location/Direction - No resistance is applied by therapist
-- GRADING EXPLAINED --
► Grade 5: Posterior pelvic tilt was maintained until 14° to 0°
► Grade 4+: Posterior pelvic tilt was maintained until 29° to 15°
► Grade 4: Posterior pelvic tilt was maintained until 44° to 30°
► Grade 4-: Posterior pelvic tilt was maintained until 59° to 45°
► Grade 3+: Posterior pelvic tilt was maintained until 74° to 60°
► Grade 3: Posterior pelvic tilt was maintained until 90° to 75°
