Activist Amanda Nguyen, 2022 Time Woman of the Year and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, examines the narratives and institutions that fuel anti-Asian racism, and discusses the unifying power of the Stop AAPI Hate movement. “What I saw was this outburst of recognition that our stories really do matter,” Nguyen says. “The reason why, during the pandemic, we saw this ignition is because we turned to social media instead of the gatekeepers: mainstream media, Hollywood, our education system, our government.”
