Thank you for the tutorial! I followed the same steps like you to get used to Android and Firebase and nothing happens when I press Read Data button. I also introduced manually data in the Db because also the part to save data did not work. The button works fine because if I press it with empty username field it will show that "username is empty" warning. The connection with Firebase seems fine and I do not have errors in the code. I do not know where is the problem :(
