I have the adapter. Only can access Ssd’s with usb two. Need usb 3 to access full on hdd’s

It only works on 2.5" HDDs (smaller laptop hard drives), it won't work on a 3.5" HDD

I need help! I just got the adapter today, my computer said it installed the driver. The drive is titled Factory Image. It says 1.93GB free of 13.6GB. When i click on it i only get one file that says recovery. When i click on that a message pops up saying: "recovery partition warning! This area of your hard drive (or partition) contains files used for your PC recovery. Do not delete or alter these files. Any change to this partition could prevent any recovery later." That is it, there's no further clicking available accept going back. My drive displays no user accounts or anything else accept recovery. What is going on?
