Liza Varvogli, MA, Ph.D., is a Greek-born, Harvard-trained psychologist, best-selling parenting book author and award-winning picture book author in her native Greece.
Dr. Liza holds an MA in School and Counseling Psychology from Tufts University and Ph.D. in Psychology from Northeastern University. She completed her post-doctoral training at Boston Children’s Hospital, the teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, where she also worked for ten years before returning to her native Greece.
Dr. Liza is trained in CBT, is an accredited EMDR trauma therapist, and has extensive training in Stress management, mindfulness, as well as in behavior change through health and wellness coaching programs and motivational interviewing.
Dr. Liza has accumulated over 40,000 hours of clinical work in the field of psychotherapy and parenting work. She has extensive experience working with children of all ages and their families. She works as a psychotherapist and her goal is to help people discover themselves, find meaning and happiness in life and live in a balanced, positive way, thriving and not just surviving.
After completing her internship and post-doctoral training at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School’s teaching hospital, she returned to Greece where she opened a busy private practice and became a professor at the Medical School of Athens University, where she teaches at the graduate program “Stress Management and Health Promotion”.
