'Church Member Gets Quick Lesson On Public Photography' First Amendment Audit

I paid a visit to this L.D.S church in Tustin, to capture some video & images from the public sidewalk outside the property. I had a few encounters, one in particular with a lady who approached me on the sidewalk .She mentioned to me that she felt like I was invading her privacy somehow, so I explained to her if she can be seen from a public area, there's really no expectation of privacy.

"I feel like you're invading my privacy"...says someone who's a member of an organization which dispatches missionaries to bang on doors on private property, ignoring "No Soliciting" and "No Trespassing" signs. Worse still if someone in the house had been a member of that organization, as they'll keep coming back. "Invading my privacy"...priceless.

My favorite parts are always the leading questions and your answers, "Can I ask you what you are doing?" "Yes you can", "Is there a purpose?" "Yes there is" lol pure gold as they sit there digesting the answer.

When I was only little (4 or so) the JWs came knocking at our door. Mum had us be very quiet and hide it our bedroom. They kept knocking until Mum got angry and answered the door. The very first words out of his mouth was, I’ve just come from the gates of hell, to which Mum replied well you can bloody well go back there. One of my earliest memories.😊

You SHOULD have asked, "Do you need a permit to worship?" When he would say no, then ask WHY he doesn't need a permit to worship in America. He MIGHT have thought about the 1st Amend. ;)

"we're not trying to cause problems". Well, what is more likely to cause problems, standing quietly on the side taking pictures or going up inappropriately close to someone literally putting your phone in someone's face "in spite" like a child??

It's funny how everyone approaches you with a fake friendly attitude and interrogate you with a sarcastic tone. But when they get put in their place they have no choice but to kick rocks!! They try to instigate that you are doing something wrong but they only look stupid and ignorant because they don't have a clue about 1st amendment rights in public.

people in public who attempt to interfere with public photography are in violation of the Bane Act which makes it both a civil infraction and criminal infraction with fines starting at $1, 000 and up to 6 months in jail. ANY form of interference with the exercise of ANY constitutional rights is a violation of that act regardless of who does it for whatever reason.

Woman walks directly up to a man filming from a public sidewalk, gets within a few feet of him and his camera, initiates an interaction, records him, asks him to remove his mask, glasses and hat and actually sticks her camera in his face and then says that he's violating her
