Ring Doorbell - Stopped Working

Our ring doorbell purchased from Home Depot a little over a year ago stopped working. Their customer service, although polite, refused to fix it or replace it since it as been over 12 months. However, the customer service representative did offer to charge me an additional $100 in order to buy an "extended lifetime warranty" and, at that time, would replace it for me. Based on my experience, my recommendation would be not to spend the money on this overpriced doorbell and look for alternatives. I will also be consulting with Home Depot on my experience with this product.

Wow glad to see that we are not the only one that had our doorbell stop working very shortly after the warranty expires.

Have the same problem and was looking for a solution. Your advice not to buy Ring again is probably a smart move now that I've seen

Same here. Ring Doorbell 2 not working after 1 year 4 months. Wish they had at least a minimum 2 year warranty like most products.

I'm with you this thing has been garbage shortly after I installed it. I should have returned it when I had the chance.

Just got Ring 2 works for a week then just lost connection. Have tried to reconnect but no success. My door bell works but no camera or no connection to the phone. Very expensive door bell. Will reach out to customer service but so disappointed.

My Ring doorbell is hardwired. It would go out from time to time and I’d remove the cover and do a hard reset with the internal button. I had to do it so often, I finally took the cover off and drilled a hole in the side so I could use a ballpoint pen to reset it. Now the doorbell AND the separate motion camera/light (also hardwired) are both off and I can’t get them to reset. Restarted router...pressed the reset button NADA!!
I have 4 Arlo cameras and they’ve never gone off line...but they eat batteries. Think I’ll just buy a Rottweiler.

I agree. Mine stopped working a couple months after the warranty expired too. It's too expensive to replace every year

Mine is hardwired. I've been waiting on a delivery. Had a convoluted way of opening my garage that would have been easy to explain to the delivery guy had my doorbell not crashed 10 seconds into me talking to him. I can now no longer access live view. Lovely :(

Mine just stopped working as yours did. I’ve had it for well over 5 years. I used it for about 6 months and moved to a new apartment where I couldn’t install it. I kept everything in the box I purchased it and stored it away. We’ve recently moved again, this time to a place where I can use it. I started the set up a few days ago and installed it today. It was working perfectly fine for about and hour and just stopped completely. I’m super disappointed

Mine still works, just doesn’t catch the motion right away. Really irritating!!

If anyone lives in the UK you have up to 6 years under the 1975 consumer law act which was updated I think round about 2013 to get a repair or a new one. Firms not good at telling people that. When customer services say to me after 18 month nothing they can do I tell them about that law and they soon back down xx

Funny, mine just did the same thing!!! Exact same issue and like yours, only 16 months old and just died. I can not find anything at all wrong with the door bell. Everything else still has power. I would never recommend this but could aways buy a new one, swap just the door bell part, followed by returning the kit you just purchased for a refund. The store you purchased it from will return it as defective.

I got one of these about 6 months ago and it’s total garbage. It’s 10 feet from my router yet can never hook up to it. It records when the wind blows yet doesn’t record when someone is standing in front of it. Garbage.

Simpler thing happened to me and after I replaced the unit with the 2nd gen I then tested with battery’s and somehow it started working

its supposed to be a lifetime warrantly, the customer service person you talked to should have been fired

My neighbor's ring just stopped after 12 months. She can see live feed on her phone but it will not ring at the door or on her phone. The company tried to fix it but they said the warranty had expired and suggested that she buy another one. So I guess is supposed to pay $299 every year for a new one.

Ok, wanted to give you an update, I installed the new Ring Doorbell and same issue. The Ring Doorbell new out of the box and no power as well so my guess is that it's their white box inside the doorbell that died and needs replaced. We shall see.

I had purchased 2 ring doorbells. Because of internet connection issues, I was able to use only one. I managed to register 2 of them, and eventually put one of them away after my free trial. After the warranty expired, the Ring doorbell I was using stopped working. Ring advised it was a hardware issue, and could only offer a 35% off code for any new ring device.
I tried to replace my main Ring Doorbell with my spare, but that too was having hardware issues, so Ring gave me a 35% discount code on that as well.
Is it a coincidence this happened, or was it set up to fail after x amount of months? 🤷‍♂️
