We had to replace the transformer which was in the garage and the doorbell system. Lowe’s had all pieces we needed in one box. Ring doorbell now works as it is supposed to. Thanks for the video.

Sir thank you so much for the very clear clarification! so many freaking ppl and posts in the Internet and no one could just say you don't need to recharge the battery if it's already hardwired!

I'm glad you clarified in this video that if the RIng doorbell is hooked to your old doorbell, you won't need to keep removing it to charge it. I watched your previous Ring video yesterday, and thought I heard you say something about charging the Ring. I've was looking for further clarification, when I found this video of yours. Thank you!

Thank you so much! My issue was the screws preventing the ring from touching the charging pad thing. It was driving me nuts. Very helpful!

This is some great info. Now I have to watch your install. I use the battery. Needs charging way too often. I'm gonna check to see if I have door bell wiring

Thank you so so much! No one else had this information online. The screws were not tight enough and so the connection was not good enough. All I had to do was tighten the screws so the ring fit flush with the bracket. So simple!

This video was helpful. I recently noticed my Ring battery going below 90% and not recharging for the last few of days. I didn't think anything of it because the bell was still ringing inside my home. So figured I just need to recheck the fuse and bell wiring. Then, when you mentioned something about hitting wires behind the wall, I remembered I recently installed a floating shelf and had issues with 1 of the screws not going through the wall so I used a shorter screw. Since that wall is a few feet away, I didn't think it was possible for that to be the cause. But, I just loosened those screws and the doorbell switched back to hardwired from battery mode. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Sometimes it's the simple things. I never would've tried that if I didn't watch your video. Thankfully, it wasn't damaged to the point of someone having to go behind the wall to fix it.

Thanks for putting up this video. Called ring tech support and couldn't get the problem across to the "tech". In some other country. I couldn't understand her at all... I think my connection is the problem. Will check it out in the light tomorrow...

Good video, my hardwired version suddenly just died with no response. First and easiest thing to do is go and unscrew the doorbell and see if you got voltage across the terminals and/or do the jumper trick shown in the video. If no power then go back and look at the other items described (breaker panel, transformer etc.) For mine I showed good voltage and got the chime to work. Ended up power cycling mine which did the trick.

This was so helpful. I went through all the steps and it’s my Ring that isn’t working… doorbell wiring is fine. But it’s a first gen, so the last few minutes of your video don’t help with it :( but at least I’ve narrowed it down! It doesn’t have a separate plate like your version. I think I’m going to have to take apart my ring itself to find out what’s disconnected inside.

Thanks so much! I was able to fix our hardwiring issue. One thing to note is that the app doesn't update the battery source very quickly. It kept saying battery but since I knew the connection was being made because the inside doorbell was working again, I just left it alone and checked back about 5 minutes later and the source had updated to hardwired.

Great stuff! Nothing like this on the Ring Website. Previous HO botched the install I think. I have power from the transformer; nice tip on arcing the wires so to speak. It saved me the hassle of getting a doorbell to test. There is also speculation that the transformer might not be powerful enough to run it.

Yep, the terminals on the back was loppy and unscrewing them a little cased it to register as hardwired!!!! Ty
