How to Format and Clean Install Windows 10

This is a step by step instructions on installing Windows 10. for a clean install you might need to disable UEFI

Download Windows 10

Burn ISO onto a disc

Disable UEFI

Change the boot order

If you dont want to loose data, upgrade:

Thanks Miguel. This made it clear and easy. Thank you very much for this tutorial. I couldn't figure out how to properly format the hard drive before installing Windows 10. I am using a hard drive from an older computer to replace a failed hard drive on my daughter's computer. The hard drive originally had a dual boot system with two operating systems on it. I'm formatting it to do a clean install of Windows 10 Pro; but I got stuck on the section that showed the partitions on the drive. I couldn't figure out how to format the entire drive before the OS installation. You answered the questions that I had in this tutorial. Thank you again for a no-nonsense, getting right down to business tutorial. Here it is, 8 years later, and you're still helping people with this video. Outstanding!

One more quick comment. On my pc during restart I had to go back into the bios to adjust the startup back to the main hard drive. At the initial restart as seen at minute 3:15 on your video my device booted from the USB drive. Lol. Once I took care of the bios order Windows 10 finished the install. Thanks again, Miguel.

Nice straightforward instructions. The only point to add would be something regarding doing this as an upgrade to Windows 10 where you have a valid activated key for the older Windows 7 or 8, and would be relying on Microsoft to apply a digital license to the Windows 10.

Guys, definately do this if you can. Alot of people criticize windows 10 but most of them have only done the upgrade or it has come with a prebuilt computer. The upgrade often leaves alot of crap behind from the previous OS and OEM PC manufactures will bog a new OS down with bloatware and trial software. My laptop didn't run well and the disk kept spiking with windows 10, but as soon as i did a fresh install it was much faster.

Thanks to your info, I got a clue and deleted the messed up partitions on a drive that were preventing the Win 10 installer from detecting it. I simply used Disk Management to "Delete Volume" and that made it "unallocated space". Then the Win 10 installer could see it! Thanks!
