hey guys i had the problem that whenever i imported the illustrator files i couldnt get after effects to seperate the layers from each other. After some research i found a solution to this problem. You gotta make sure that you assign a layer to each shape in illustrator. Also when you made every shape a seperate layer in illustrator make sure to delete the original layer where all the shapes were in at the beginning. Hope that helps :)

This is an amazing tutorial. I always found drawing stuff in AE difficult, and I didn't know you could easily import shapes from illustrator and make them shape objects in AE. Thank you!
