Our #1 worst town in NC is Henderson. It's literally in the middle of nowhere, and the downtown is a travesty. Don't miss it!

Albemarle is just off the coast if you consider a four to five hour drive just off the coast!

Albemarle is not near the coast. It is well over 100 miles inland within the Piedmont region not even within the coastal plains. It is actually a very nice town that like Rockingham and Wadesboro to its south and southeast are somewhat isolated from the larger cities like Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh and Fayetteville which benefit from have major interstates running through them. In addition, these smaller towns outside of lacking the population of the the major cities, do not have as much employment opportunities as well. Albemarle and Rockingham especially are large enough to support more industry if they had it and unfortunately the lack of good paying industry in these areas goes back many years when a few greedy families controlled much of the local wealth, land, etc. and they fought to keep out other industries and businesses that might impact their own financial interest in the area thus possibly bringing with it higher wages and more opportunities for the locals. They did this often by running for local political offices or having control over someone within a local office who helped to drive out any manufacturer or large employer who showed interest in these areas. Yeah, that is as bad as it sounds but it is the cold hard truth about towns like Albemarle and Rockingham. They were mostly textile and agricultural industry dependent towns that had a few mills and factories that were all locally owned by a few wealthy families who controlled every aspect of those communities from politics, commerce, law, etc. and they kept many of those towns from growing at the rates of larger and lore progressive communities. Good example is Southern Pines and Pinehurst, NC. They are only 30 minutes away from Rockingham, NC. They are retirement, golf, horseback riding community made up of mostly wealthy northern folks who came in and retired. That area is booming, politically they are diverse and there is nobody with a local vested financial interest in keeping the community under their thumb. Rockingham however to the southwest has had years of being controlled by a few wealthy families and is struggling to attract business and they are trying but they waited too late as the overall National economy is not strong now and without some sort of draw like tourism, good schools, low crime its hard to attract anyone. Albemarle is pretty much in the same boat with the same reasons as Rockingham. its sad but unfortunately true.

I live in Whiteville, NC and it is a nice, quiet, friendly town. You can leave your doors unlocked here.
I’d rather live in Whiteville than Wilmington NC whose crime rate is much higher and the traffic is awful.

Alb Albemarle is not near the coast. The town of Albemarle is way in the Piedmont . Northeast North Carolina is called the Albelbemarle area but not not near the city.

You are telling a lie about Pineville. do not have much crime, it's is so small. It had over 10, 000 people that are building a lot of houses on there and they don't have a middle school or high school you have to go to Charlotte for that they only got one Elementary school. Carolina Place Mall is here and we ain't worse in Gastonia. Your research in Pineville North Carolina is disappointing.
