I'm an "only sing in the shower" person and novice to singing. Recently. I decided to work towards making my shower-singing sound decent ish. These exercises are awesome, helping me improve quickly. Thanks for sharing.

I had no idea how uncomfortable singing was for me until I started watching your videos and realised, oh, if I don't squeeze everything, singing is actually easy and comfortable!

I have a singing competition tomorrow and I searched this up because some days my throat is really tensed and others it isn’t and I don’t know how to control that and when it’s relaxed I’m hitting those notes really well. I just took this advice and immediately found myself able to sing at my best UNDER MY OWN control. Thank you so much

Best advice. My throat hurts after a few songs. I will do these exercises often. I always sing with too much force.

Whenever I start to sing or practice i feels tight around my throat quickly. It's really hard for me to relax my throat when I sing even though im singing notes that are comfortable. I'm literally watching you videos for like half an hour in a row now and you really are a great teacher. I hope I'll manage to sing strain freebone day haha.

Very interesting that the same technique applies in ballet! When jumping think down! It makes for lighter elevation. If you think “up” when you jump, the upper body strains. It’s so similar!!

i tried the three fingers on the neck to help open up the throat, , and the sound that came out didn't even sound like me anymore, it was such a cool experience honestly. thank you for all the tips they work magic!

Your videos are absolutely amazing, Victoria! I'm very happy to have found them. I've noticed that I sing with a tight throat. Putting my fingers on the side of my throat has been an eye-opener and works every time ;). I will just have to practise so I won't need those fingers there all the time. Being able to sing for longer periods of time without throat tension has been a blessing and makes singing so much more fun. I can't thank you enough!

Can you do a video about what vocal damage might sound like, recovering from vocal damage and how to avoid doing it again?

I’ve been struggling with throat tension for the past few years. It was partly a result of singing with musicians (rock) who would not turn down their volume. I was pushing so much that I was going flat (on songs that were probably too low for me to begin with)

I was stuck in a throat singing rut and couldn’t get out. I felt like I had forgotten how to sing! My lower range was particularly affected. I am a mezzo with a big range C3-A6.
I’ve been trying various things with some improvement but continued backsliding. Yesterday I watched this video and did the exercises. I felt relief! I felt my singing position move to the nasopharynx and out of the throat!

I sang in my very small choir at Midnight mass last night. I have also been struggling with throat tightness there) We had 5 people singing in the choir (2 are very quiet) I am the only alto. At the end of the service we received a round of applause! I really believe that this video helped me to release my voice so that I blended better with my soprano friend and that was part of the reason why we sounded so great! I’m not saying we sounded great just because of me but I can say that we would not have sounded as good if I was singing from my throat! Thank you so much!

There are lots of vocal coaches on YouTube (and I have an occasional live one as well) but they don’t all understand the nature of certain issues or how to fix them! Your spiel about your years of performing and teaching is completely deserved! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

I love how you reframe it as being athletic, it’s a matter of practice then it feels like something I CAN do 🎉❤

This video just literally changed my life. Honestly all of them. You are the best for teaching this. As someone who’s never gone to school for it and just recently started vocal lessons locally and been also watching your videos… it’s crazy to see how much has changed in my singing in such little time after knowing what should be happening with my body. 🤯 Thank you 🫶

4 years ago i broke my passage notes because i went to sing in the streets in order to pay my rent, i had just began opera lessons but my technique was in the very early stages and since then every year i lose more high notes, it's like i don't have voice in these notes anymore, plain air
I used to have very powerful high notes and now very squeezed and sometimes plain air

I'm happy i found you

I mean no offense to other youtube singing instructors, but I’ve learned more in this video and your breath support video than I have in all other singing videos I’ve ever watched combined!

Basically what you’re describing is a singers mouth is in the throat.
Make sense?

Not only you’re a great coach with a gr8 sense of humour You’re also very beautiful.🌹
