I experienced little healing in the first 6 months but that’s when I got into psychedelics, meditation, etc. This drastically changed the healing process. Identifying bad feelings would suddenly banish them from my brain. It was a lot of actual WORK, but as soon as I started meditating every day I saw my benzo related problems just start to disappear. 1.5 years off them now and have never felt better in my life.. not even close!

I was on Klonopin for 33 years, Effexor XR for 18 years and Topamax for 15 years. At the end of April, it will be 5 years off Klonopin!!! I have body aches, burning/tingling and insomnia ~ BUT things are better. I've applied for a job ~ wish me luck. Janet

The Drs missed my husband's signs and symptoms even after I begged them as I called it "benzodiazepine injury" and after an 18 month battle of pure hell watching my husband of 28 years suffer we lost our battle and he couldn't take the torture anymore and he took his own life last year (4-20-2021) to escape the torture! He was 48 years old! RIP baby!

I am half way through my Benzo taper - two years in - maybe two to three years to go., maybe even longer. I have been completely traumatised by the whole process. Literally traumatised emotionally and physically. The taper has been so traumatic. I feel SO sick. My immune system has gone completely haywire. I am housebound and bed ridden most of the time. I do not know how on earth Dr Erin dealt with breast cancer during her taper. I HATE these drugs SO SO much and wish to G*d my Dr had NEVER EVER prescribed them for me. EVER !!!

I think that my symptoms extremely aggravated with some new horrible one by setbacks. As now I am almost 4 months off Alprazolam, but seems getting worse . The initial one month after coming off was like normal acute phase, but things were improving, but in the second month, I had major setbacks like, inhaling chemicals ( roof cleaning bleach, that was spilled all over our house, paints, and carpet washing etc) due to this, I felt like all my head nerves are swollen and paining with a very heavy feel, my vision and focusing also got distorted ( it was not before). It doesn't seem to be benzo withdrawal to me, or it is possible. Can our neuro receptors get affected by these chemical fumes inhalation?
I am really scared.
I am losing hope that I will heal with time. Please respond.

Wow. These benzo stories are so shocking. I've had some alcohol addiction which included some 1-2 WEEK tapers, and a few weeks afterwards of not feeling quite right. Can't imagine years long tapers.

Comfortably or screaming all the way through? I weaned off 40 years of benzos in 3 1/2 months and it almost killed me. I am disabled. 5 years off now.
Immediately following that withdrawal I withdrew off of 4 decades of Zopiclone which also almost took my life as well. I’m 3 years off Zopiclone.
I’m ill, I’m disabled. 5 yrs off benzos. All sorts of damage to my body.
Almost ready to give up.
I am financially destroyed, this has disabled me. I wish someone could tell me whats going on. I'm not going to make it.
Can this be all the serious damage from these withdrawals? Serious nerve issues .
No mercy from the people who I thought were a family. No mercy.

Let’s talk about cold turkey cause I was abusing Valium it was pure hell didn’t think I would get back to myself it took 8 months then had a last year after taking some antibiotics for tooth ach .. been off benzo almost 4years stilling fighting now I’m having memory problems that’s the most terrifying for I fought so hard to get to where I’m now . Like take my hands my feet not my mind . I just started working out eating more heather since most meds or things can put you in a setback. I’m hoping things get better with my memory 😢
