A very frugal method eating out is to not eat out, but to take your home cooked meal out. Drive to the beach, the park, whatever makes you happy. This also means the dishes are done, and you don’t have immediate access to a second helping.

We haven’t been frugal the past year. Now we have no choice due to bills and the cost of living. We are trying really hard to change habits. No coffees out or food, no money on entertainment etc I was miserable the first week but I’m ok now. I’m determined to live in our means and start saving again

Fast food prices are astronomical. I cut that out. I cut Netflix. I cut my 5 day a week diet coke from a machine. I'm changing my phone service to Mint. I've lost weight and find clothes in regular sizes are somewhat cheaper than XXL. I use my phone until it can no longer be fixed. I borrow library books free.

I have been doing the low buy challenge these last few months and was easily saving $200 a month for an incidental fund. Each time I reached $1000 I was going to put that in savings and start again. Unfortunately, my old cat got a UTI and needed urgent vet care. There went $205 of my fund. I could have been sad but was glad instead that I had the money at hand and didn't need to charge it! Or wait until my cat got sicker. ❤😻🤔

I don't eat out any more and enjoy cooking at home 🤗.

I consider myself SOMEWHAT frugal..but because we have not eaten out or traveled for pleasure in over 3 years... we decided to celebrate at a lovely restored Tavern this week.
Being somewhat elderly and having Covid concerns, we asked for an early seating, and the proprietor made sure we had a private room all to ourselves. What a treat... and proof that being frugal does NOT equate denial and suffering.

We track every cent…we sleep on every purchase before we buy…we don’t eat out except birthdays or anniversary. This week I spent 16 at a consignment shop for a dress and blouse that were never worn, and turns out they were 178 dollars if bought brand new. The $16 I spent was actually a credit I had from selling some Winter clothes. Grandpa always said “If you take care of the pennies, you’ll always have dollars!” RIP Gramps ❤

I was on vacation recently. My husband and I found some good buys thrifting. Everybody told me I needed a hat for being out in the sun at a sprinb training game. A store near our hotel had women's hats priced at 124.00! We went to the thrift store and got a cute hat for 1.49. We also found a great soft insulated cooler for 5.49! Loved our finds!

Just found you and love all the points you make. No streaming here, basic cable only, I buy groceries twice a month only and freeze a lot including quarts of milk. For work, I always took my lunch and made my own coffee, filled a thermos and took that to work. I use a regular coffee maker and not one of those fancy 1 cup deals that only create waste not to mention the price of those coffee makers. When going to Starbucks or in my case, Tim Hortons, I'm in Canada, not only are you wasting money, but time whether or not you walk in or go thru a drive thru. Going thru a drive thru you can add wasting gas to that list and building stress.

I use the same cell phone till it can't be used at all. I get used books and return them to the used book store for credit towards the next books. I would use the library but sometimes I can't get thru a whole book in the time allotted because I am also a writer. That $7440 dollars would get me 18 months of groceries.

I use my credit card for everything possible. What you say!? I pay it off as I go. The money is in my bank account and I have a budget, and I never have a balance on the card. I do this because I'm on a points award type of program with my card. The more I use the card the more points I earn towards merchandise I can get for free with my points. I've been able to get bed sheets, binoculars and a great cast iron frying pan just to name a few. So my money works twice.

I have a 13 column budget book and I add up the columns at the end of each month and carry over those totals to the next month. I can look at each month and see not only what I spent that month, but what I've spent for the year up to that point.

I only eat out twice a month (before going to the grocery store) and that's at a reasonably priced restaurant and not a fast food place. I can take home what I don't eat from a regular restaurant. I rent instead of owning my own home. I do wish I could own my own place but where I live now is perfect for me and for my writing. My rent is extremely reasonable, I don't have to shovel snow as that's included as is water and garbage pickup. I live in an old A Frame cottage overlooking a small lake just outside of my small fishing hometown. I do live way below my income and have a savings account.

Great tips! Yes, I'm aiming to never pay full price for grocery items & it's really helping. When grocery items are on sale for half price or less, I stock up with a large amount & this is saving heaps over the year! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

We recently went on our dream, once in a life time vacation. That was possible due to our ultra frugal habits. It makes me so happy that our frugal ways allow us to make BIG dreams like travel come true even on our modest income. I am so grateful for you two for inspiration and such positive messages 🙏

our microwave broke last weekend ( we bought it at marketplace for 10 euro a few years ago) it was only 700 watts and my husband wanted a 900 watt this time. So he went looking on marketplace again. He found a 1000watt microwave for 35 euro to pick up close by. It is wunderfull, I also started using it for cooking vegetables, it works great. We are a family of 5 and eat at very diverend times because of our jobs and sports and so on, so I cook from scratch ( almost always) and who is home eats it " fresh" and who comes later pops it in the microwave. lefovers are eaten the naxt day or taken to work. For me it is like sports to live frugal.

I discovered a false saving recently. I bought a kilo of broken biscuits thinking it would be cheaper, but ended up simply eating more biscuits!!!

Sending greetings, love & thanks from West Yorkshire, UK 🇬🇧 Your videos have been fantastic & super helpful. I’ve recently gone through a separation & now have to pay a mortgage, run a house & look after an 11 year old all on my little salary. It’s a daunting task but your videos have inspired me - keep them coming! ❤️

I learned to to be frugal by eliminating the use of an automobile out of my life and using my feet and shopping cart 🛒 to go to the grocery store to purchase food; riding my bicycle 🚴 to go longer distances, and using public transportation to go to work and other places. If out of the way then I use a cab or Uber or Lyft.

As always, I am a bit late but I am here! FREEDOM and REST mentally are why I love being frugal.

Frugal people use the library because there are so many items there that you pay for in taxes that you have access to such as books, Kanopy, coupons, newspapers, magazines, computers, Libby, WiFi, etc..
