My mother and I have exchanged the same birthday card for 34 yrs…I send it to her every August…comes back to me every January…it’s never been signed …just travels back and forth…I get it for a little longer than she does…it started as a frugal move…I sent the unsigned card and envelope to her in a larger envelope…the idea being that it’s nice to have a card at the ready ….well it came back to me and has been traveling ever since.

We coconut oil in our home for everything. Makeup remover, moisturizer, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. A little bit goes a long way.❤

Retired hair dresser here. You can buy gallon jugs of shampoo concentrate and conditioner at Sally's beauty supply and refill small bottles. I always use a fair amount first wash, smaller amount second wash then conditioner on my extra long hair. Rub most of shampoo on scalp then work it through length at end. (I think part of the wash twice routine in the beauty shop was weekly appointments. Hair set with lots of setting gel, ratted up and style using lots of hairspray, finished off with lacquer spray. I would have to undo the style, brush it out and try to remove the dandruff then wash it good and start over. Those updo's of the 70's were ment to last a good week or two.)

For sentimental reasons I kept the birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Christmas cards that our kids gave us from babyhood onwards and also the cards my husband and I sent to each other. I looked at this huge pile of cards that were just languishing in the cupboard and had an idea. I sorted them out into piles for each sender and then gave them back to the sender for them to give them to us all over again. Now we get charming, beautiful cards from our kids and it's so lovely to see 'I love you Mummy' in a 6 year olds best handwriting posted to us by a 30 year old.
The cards my husband and I gave each other are just as much fun too, we never chose gushy cards, they were always jokey ones so it's good to have the giggle all over again because we'd forgotten about them over the last 40 years.

I love having an abundance of real dishes that are sturdy. It always makes folks feel like it's a special occasion. Plus it's sustainable and more affordable in the long run.

I just pour the white vinegar in the softener dispenser in the washer

Save Christmas cards you receive, cut off the back, and use the picture part as a gift tag.

Plastic shower caps make good bowl covers. I used to travel a lot, so I would save the ones from hotel rooms to use as covers.
Years ago I bought tube squeezers. There are a variety of ones, but the best are the ones that have a tube with a slit that you slide onto the seam of your tube. A second larger tube slides over this. There's a knob on the side to roll the product up, so all the product is used. Then when i get to the top, I cut the tube to use it all, as suggested.

Yes, I save leftover napkins. Especially if I get delivery, they always give me so many napkins. I have a little stockpile now 😂

It’s as simple as sticking to the basics! Stick to things you know and love. I stopped buying things based on what other people love that maybe my husband and I wouldn’t love to use or even eat. We waste so much money and product every day, stick to what you love and only purchase those things.

The white distilled vinegar on a towel idea is genius!

Thank you for sharing the hacks. I found I do many of the things you listed, and the tips do save lots of money. Ideas to share: To cut down on how much liquid soap one can pump out, wrap a rubber band around the stem of the handle. The pump will allow enough liquid soap to be dispensed to wash hands thoroughly. This works with other type products with pumps, too. Beauty tip from grandma: use petroleum jelly on the heel of your feet to help smooth the rough and dry heels. It is best to apply the jelly and cover your feet with loose socks at night before you go to bed. By morning you will see an improvement. This procedure will cost a LOT less than the beauty products that are on the market.

I use a rolling pin to get the last bit out of my toothpaste tube, then fold up the rolled tube and hold it with a binder clip. It probably only saves about 5% of the cost of the toothpaste, but it's the principal of the thing. When you save 5% on EVERYTHING, it really adds up.

As a Pole, I must admit my granny taught me how to be frugal. And I am absolutley greatful for that. All those methods - I have been doing them since I move in with my husband to our new place of living and moreover since having three babies. They are crucial, but at the same time so small. The consistency and habits make the difference. Thank you for your work! Brilliant content, here on the Internet.

Hi, Im a new subscriber. My daughter got married a few months ago, and i made all the seating names and centre pieces, and my friend made their cake. Her husband said to me, "Thank you for teaching your daughter to be frugal with her money" 😂😂😂

Thank you for all the great tips.
When my husband and I do have paper napkins, we cut them in half. For less messy meals, we quarter the napkin.

I have one of the microwave popcorn poppers and it works great! 2 minutes with 2 tbs of popcorn kernels and a tsp of coconut oil and it perfect.

I use tooth powders for brushing, and shampoo bars for washing hair. You can find a brand you like and they work great and last forever, not to mention they don't add plastic waste to the environment!
