They had ZERO problem kicking him out if he was the affair child. But they kick out the ACTUAL affair child (which they were going to do to OP) and they're sad. Your parents don't love you. Sorry bro

Jr is still being supported by your parents. Start gaining more control in the business by learning all you can for HVAC in college

After the 'Kick the bastard out' comment, I'd have quietly gone about making sure they could retire... With just about enough money to survive but nothing more. Then, later, when the time comes send them on their merry way with a: "So yeah, I haven't forgiven you for how much you enjoyed the idea of kicking me out for the Golden child so... You're out. Please use this time to reflect on how you _fully intended to destroy the life of a child because your _*_partner cheated_* "

#2: "Why would I celebrate an event I am not invited to? I sure hope you two remember this when it is time for me to get married."

First one: ask the parents what they want to do with junior. They obviously want him back in their life, so here's what I would do. Record the conversation with them knowing, and when they say they want him back, tell them that they can have him back if they forfeit everything they would be standing to inherit, and they would forget everything about the family business, and they would leave OP's life, never to return, and find a new place to live out of state. They would have the standard legal amount of time to move because they are hereby evicted from the house and this is their notice of intent to downsize the company, and they are the first person who will be downsized at the end of the legal eviction timeframe. That should take care of it. They want to get cold blooded, they can suffer the consequences of their assholishness.

ST-1. NTA. Even if he comes back, he gets nothing🤷🏾‍♀️. It’s obvious he is a terrible brother

Story 1 NTA: OP needs to go no contact ASAP with his family, as its obvious that they only care about their "golden child", they were all prepared to boot OP out of the house and disown him forever, but now he needs to "mend fences" with his mother's affair child because he's the favorite?. Gramps was right to set that condition in his will.

JR really sealed his fate mouthing off the entire way there and on the way back. At least the father had the intelligence to know he mouthed off too and treated his source of income poorly. Or maybe he was convinced for so long OP wasn't his son and JR was that this was a wakeup call. Or both.

They're working at his business and living in his home. Of course they are timid around him. One wrong word after years of being douchebags and they lose everything. No work, no home, at a time when they are in their later years.

Mom knows the grandparents were right about her. She likely bet on JR being the actual child and op being the illegitimate one. She is quiet now because she ruined the life of her golden child and there is nothing she or her husband can do to fix it.

A prime example of if you were douchbags, if you had been somewhat curteous, none of you would be in this mess.

As for Jr. Screw him! Little $*** was happily planning to make OP homelesss. To take everything away from him. Then continued to mouth off on the ride home, like an entitled moron.

I did not shape the actions or character of others, and thus inherit a world only partially of my making. OP is acting accordingly. He didn't make his family act that way, nor is it his obligation to fix things for others.

S1 - I can hardly believe the mother was willing to throw out either child. They were both hers.

Second story: What? You want me to babysit? I couldn’t possibly be trusted to be alone in your house. You have beer in your fridge and I am too young to control myself, just like the situation at your wedding. What? Give you a ride to the store? Nope. We would pass places that sell alcohol along the way…. Heh.

S1: I see no reason to not punish the parents. They behaved horribly, and would have continued to behave horribly if mother had not been found out. Even so, all good things must come to an end. As the wise counsellor said, figure out what YOU want, OP. At the very least, move out, and get dad into a job where your contact is minimized at work. Or maybe you don't want anything to do with the company, and to go into a completely different field. Fine. You owe these people nothing, and you owe yourself a life.

S1 commenter really doesn’t understand revenge.

neillgowans

Can't say I blame OP in the first story for feeling that way. And regarding the mentor's question, can't it be both? Wanting to hurt as revenge, which is a step below justice as it seems OP hasn't been made whole. And wanting to avoid being hurt, that if Junior is back then OP could see how Junior will always be the golden child as he's spared from the stick that would be used on OP.

I agree with the comment saying OP needs to figure out what they want, and work from there.

If I were OP though, I'd continue with the arrangement. If the parents continue to be miserable, good, consider that recompense of so much pain over the years. If they acknowledge they messed up over the years and worked to actually resolve the bitterness I was feeling, also good.
