Chris & Grant on Bride and Prejudice. Heartbreaking moment his parents basically disown their only child because of their 'beliefs'.

Unfortunately this is a common story in Australia.

If you are experiencing something similiar and need to talk call QLife 1800 184 527 or Lifeline 13 11 14.

People who do not support you have no place at your wedding. They cannot bring a good vibe, loving warmth, excitement, joy, or their pride for you.

Respect to him for reacting so calmly, even if his heart was breaking.

"We can't", translates to "Don't want to, cause we're stuck in our ways".

Unbelievable.

"I don't want that in my life." So you don't want your son? These people are so stubborn that they're blind.

"I don't want 'that' in my life." says everything. They really don't deserve their son, and he'll be happier without their toxic comments.

“We love you but can’t be a part of that and we want you to respect that”. REALITY: we find you and your lifestyle disgusting. We’re not interested in being part of your special day. We demand respect from you BUT we just disrespected you. To Chris: as hard as it may be for you, turn around and NEVER look back. Family doesn’t mean blood relatives. These two people are NOT worth a second thought after that double slap they just delivered to you.

Very bad mother and father. Abandoning their own son. He's better off without them.

my Mother told me that my brother and I have taught her more about being human than any other two people she's ever known. she repeatedly tells me that I was planned, i was wanted, and that she has thought of me every single day since before I was born.
im one of the lucky ones.

You don’t love him wholeheartedly, you love on your conditions. However, as a gay man, I would never subject myself to asking for approval from family or friends who clearly has demonstrated that they are not interested in my happiness. I would not ask any of those idiots to be at my wedding.

Unbelievable. Clearly Chris expected this, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Essentially his parents have agreed to never see their son again unless he “changes the way he chooses to live his life”. It’s more than sad, it’s pathetic.
Good on Chris for being strong enough to leave that house without getting emotional. His parents are not worth his getting upset about.

I wish him all the love, happiness & success in the world. Any mother who chooses her beliefs over her own flesh & blood will face her own Karma in the end.

“I don’t want to get into an argument with you.” What a dismissive sentence and really shows off her inner narcissist nicely.

That’s exactly how my fiancé’s parents reacted. Almost to the word. It was heartbreaking to relive that. I’m heartbroken for my fiancé and for this gentleman. It doesn’t make sense. I wish him well. He deserves a life of happiness.

This is so very very sad...My heart breaks for people who come out and then their parents just bail on them... Sending great vibes and love to all of you...
