The energy beams out of hands is so on point.
Thats probably the second best feeling you get when in training. When your body is buzzing with energy so much you feel like you can float 2 inches above ground.

Love it.

Can confirm. I have cut all contact with family because they give me my psychotic problems and this is a great permanent mental break.

Yesss! 6 days made me dread the gym. I do 5 days now and my rest days are split up instead of back to back

I feel like this is valuable advice in many other areas than lifting.

Dear Dr Mike

You inspire me. I want to be like you. You found and molded your gift over the years and you share your wealth with the world, making people happier, stronger and healthier. I hope to do the same in my own way, someday sooner rather than later.

All the best!

SO hard for me to take those rest days!Mental rest as well.Always something happening.Things to do.But we gotta rest both our body and our minds to function effectively and stay healthy.😊

My current motto is "Take your rest days or your rest day will take you" Or alternatively either you take your scheduled maintenance break or it will schedule itself.

When I first started going hard in the gym for bodybuilding as the focus, i went WAY too hard ever 2 weeks or so I'd be ready to collapse. Having rest days and de-load weeks had helped tremendously.

For me I feel more fatigue when I skip a day of working out. In my head, every day I workout and don't skip, I'm saying to myself yeah this is what needs to happen to get to where I want to be. If I rest a day, in my head I'm saying I'm slowing down, maybe just a few sets, maybe some cardio, if I don't do something now I might lose what I've gained. I know in reality that skipping a day isn't going to undo all my hard work but psychologically it stresses me out because I feel like I'm missing out

As an archer, I just went through this exact thing over the last week.

Me last year when I got addicted to the progress. Now I do a 4-day split for that sweet balance of on and off days.

This really helped me I’ve been on cut and training hard wanting to train 5 days a week but after my second test day I was still super sore and this helped me reframe it. I’m ready for tomorrow!

Yep, mental burnout can be it's own thing, regardless of whether there's physical burnout or not.

On my rest days I just want to be back in the gym but I know how important they are, rest days make me excited to get back in the gym and work harder.

If there wasn’t such a stigma towards leg day people would be inclined to do it a lot more sure it sucks more then other days but as you do it consistently it gets easier to do like any other body part

Just needed someone to tell me it’s ok to take a rest day each week. Been doing half Ironman training and weightlifting six days a week, about 12-16 hours per week.

I get the same exact urge to go to the gym (kind of like Doctor Mike describes) with the energy waves of having the DBZ mentalness with having the urge to blast through things, etc lol. Gainz 💪🏼 🗿 💯 🔥
