I worked a major healthcare company for few years and always had good reviews and raises. UNTIL my boss left and they got a new manager. She was a total B word and think she had it out for me. She got rid of one guy who was awesome at his job and replace him with a woman that I was supposed to help out because she didn't know the language we were I'm a software engineer. I got put on PIP because I was helping her every 20 minutes and not getting my own stuff done. She would bitch if I set in Pittsburgh, PA traffic for 2 hours and be 5 minutes late. She fired another guy too and replace him with a woman that didn't know shit. I think she was sexist. So I found new job making a LOT more money. Now I don't drive downtown, I work from home 90% of the time, they don't care when the hell I show up for work as long as I get my stuff done. Gotta go to meetings and stuff through zoom. I'm a international robotics company and it's so laid back. I'll never go back to a company with "micro management" again.

if you get PIP at work, start looking for a new job! No second thoughts. You will end up being fired 99.9%.

PIP was the best thing happened to me. company was trash and after that I found a way better job where I could put my skills to good use. PIP is just an excuse to get rid of employees, just quit your job before it's too late, ain't worth it. your mental health with thank you later.

It’s basically the company covering their ass saying “we did all we could to keep the employee” in case employee fights the termination. When I saw it done, its never had nothing to do with performance. It is a tool to push out someone they no longer wanted. Long story short, If you are on a PIP, start looking for another job.

My PIP lasted a month, I passed it, but there were mass layoffs months later and I was affected. Luckily the project manager who gave me the PIP and I have no hard feelings, he has been giving me referrals to new positions (for context, our company went through management change). Even if you pass, it makes it easier to get laid off in the future

You said you didn't feel well while recording this video, I wanna personally thank you for putting this video together and sharing it with us. I learned so much from you, especially right now when everyone is on the verge to get fired for no reason.

I know a guy who got PIP'd, manager to follow it, then got a harsher PIP then quit.

I was putted in PIP after completing my 3.5 years in a german conglomerate. I was nominated for best performing employee award 5 months back and than during annual performance review meeting I was not given any hike. Instead forced to accept that I am not performing enough. When I met with my manager's manager, he instead listening to my queries putted me on PIP. I immediately started job hunting and after a month resigned gracefully. They asked me to serve complete 3 months notice. If I would have struggling with performance than why they wanted to keep me for 3 months. In reality they started bulling, harassing me in those 3 months as I got new offer from a good company their ego was clashing. I was very happy on my last working day, seeing their faces.

PIP can that be cancelled from HR once it is approved from HR. And PIP will be given when manager dont want the person in organisation. He could have provided release from project rather than pip. But manager wants person out of company as if he is owner of company

I am just wandering how all these gaslighting, unethical, despicable things can happen at all at work places while HR specialist elaborate calmly and philosophically about them.
Also, my question is: do they really think that "the next" company is going to be better and more ethical then the one peopl are busy to leaving.
In what kind of world are we living!?!?!?!?
In the place where we are advised that it is ok to jump from frying pan to the fire.
In the world where we get advised how to dogged the bullet( bulling, abuse, gaslighting) instead of working on stopping the abuse at work places. Why punishing the employers for abusing their power and victimising people is never the option.
What is the point of HR management when they are always on the employer side and they are under they thumb all the time!?!?!?!!?

PIPS are CYA programs for the company. I was a manager for 30 years. If you get a PIP, start looking!

I just had my last day at Amazon last Friday after only 7 months. The PIP my manager wrote was setup for failure and I accepted the leave option.

It’s been difficult balancing the proud feelings I had when I got this job and how I feel now.

I have to disagree with you completely about the second chance if there was a "" second chance your manager would pull you to the side and communicate that they felt you weren't meeting the mark and explain how you could do so. formalizing a process to fire you is not a second chance

This was very helpful I work for Amazon MIA1 and they’ve been trying to put me on a PIP twice so I took a medical leave

After 2.5 months on the job, and one day after a personal congratulatory for "righting the ship", I was given a PIP after being invited for a second round of "focused onboarding". The CEO admitted they "blindsided" me and weren't "fair".

A lot of amature managers are being churned out in Amazon because they are blindly following the rules.

PIP is also known as CAP (corrective action plan)

Ms., you are from HR, so your opinion is biased. You need to understand that there are many people in the workplace with positions of power that abuse their power. They may use PIP just to have documentation to get rid of someone just because they don't like them; regardless if the employee is an outstanding worker. I was lucky- I had bullies that wanted to evaluate and give me a performance review, just to set-me-up. Lucky for me, I was able to voice that I didn't want these certain bullies in power to evaluate me; another person had to evaluate me. This person gave me a fair evaluation, , and I ended up getting an exceptional evaluation. Some employees do not have this privilege of choosing who and who can not give them a performance review. Therefore you need to be empathetic as to what it feels like to receive a PIP that wasn't deserved. If this were a fair world, I would agree that PIPs are needed to help an employee improve their performance. But it is not.

I was put on a pip after having my son and his mother not being able to take care of him so I used FMLA then they retaliated with a Pip against me.
