This video is a life saver for me after the main charging port stopped working. I did not think of using the docking station as an alternative charging mechanism until I watched this video! Thank you! (maybe I should read the manual next time :))

So I had my power cable on the port where it shows the charger logo and it connects fine. When I power the dock, Im able to use 2 external monitors and then my laptop screen. And I was fine with that for YEARS - this is my work laptop btw and Ive been on it for the past 3 years. Today, I wanted to see if I could connect it to use my 32" monitor that I use for gaming, personal stuff, etc... and I couldnt figure it out. I came across this video and noticed that you said to plug in the power in the thunderbolt port. I did that and im ABLE TO USE 3 MONITORS AT THE SAME TIME WITHOUT USING THE LAPTOP Ive been SEARCHING for ways to do this for a while now and I was about to give up and this video solved my issue!!!! Thank you THANK YOU!

Hello @LetmeFixIT. I initially had my USC type C cable plugged into the Port with the Thunderbolt symbol. I unplugged it and plugged it to another laptop which has a Type C port ( no thunderbolt symbol). After plugging the cable back to my regular laptop Type C port with thunderbolt symbol, I realized my monitors are not displaying unless I switch to a type C port with no thunderbolt system on my regular laptop. I believe switching to my other laptop with type c port (no thunderbolt symbol) has changed the settings. How do I get this issue resolved to have my monitors recognized when I plug to the Type C port with Thunderbolt symbol?

I think I have the longer or a newer version of this docking station. I am missing a splitt cable that has a round and an usb c cable at the end. I can charge the docking station but connecting it with some regular usb c to my laptop does not work for me use the usb or any other ports. Is it really necessary to buy the splitt cable to get this work station to work again ? Thank you
