so ive been checking this out. staring at the sun for the last couple of hours. i dont see it

For the confused as to why the sun appears yellowish on reddish when it does show any color. The atmosphere filters out more cold colors than warm colors. So more warm colored light gets through the air and into our eyes.

Just in case anyone is interested: this has to do with a correlation between the temperature of the emitting object and the wavelenght of emmited light. Our sun, due to its temperature, emits most of its light in the green spectrum, however there is enough light coming off that to our eyes, all of the visible wavelenghts reach saturation. Our eye can not perceive/display a higher intensity and thus we see it as white.

I just looked this up the other week. I found so many contradictory answers but Fry explained it so well in seconds.

Rayleigh scattering "steals" some blue light from the sun, making the sky appear blue and the sun appear less blue (so yellow).
