How to quit without 2 weeks notice

Just say that you are firing them.

Every time I gave notice I was treated like a slave, given crap jobs, or treated with hostility. When I quit and walked out, I never had problems finding new employment.

The irony that as workers we have to give notice as a professional courtesy, especially to get a good reference, yet employers can terminate you without notice has always been mind boggling to me.

I have never given notice when I quit ... because every time I've quit a job they had literally pushed me to the limit.

I once quit a job at the beginning of my ten minute break. I emailed my resignation on my way home on the bus.
I once quit a job right before the beginning of my shift.
In each case I had left a hostile and toxic work environment.

I quit a job on the spot. After being there for 14 hours when I was only supposed to be there for 8, those assholes told me I could finally go home but I had to clock out first THEN countdown my section which would have taken about 45 minutes. I took off the apron, handed it to them, and left without a word. Done.

Early in my career I worked in a really hostile environment. The manager would fire experienced employees on a whim and then just rehire them back. It was during a recession so he got away with it I obtained a job that paid quite a bit more plus had commission. I was going to give a week's notice but the manager was so rude I said I was leaving immediately. He said I was required to give 2 weeks notice. I reminded him that Virginia was an at will state and either party could terminate employment at a moment's notice. I also asked if he gave employees 2 weeks notice when he fired them. His face turned so red it was all I could do not to laugh.

So they want a two week notice if you leave but won’t give two weeks notice if they lay-off/force resign you? Professional curiosity goes both ways.

My contract said I had to give two weeks notice. I applied for 2 weeks leave, the day before it started I handed in my notice. I never went back.

My experience when leaving a job its bc bad treatment and not offered good pay and work burnout. The 2 weeks just makes them treat you worse. Just leave bad toxic work environments. They dont value your courtesy.

At this point they should be happy they get any notice at all, I usually just send them an email saying this is my resignation effective immediately!

Also have your two week notice in your pocket anytime you go looking for a raise and make sure your boss sees it. If you don't get the pay raise that you were looking for, you pretty much have to quit. If you stay after being denied a raise, from then on your boss will look at you like somebody he can walk on and get away with it. You will receive no respect from there on out

You don’t need to tell them why you are leaving or where you are going. Short and sweet is best.

I have NEVER seen a job give two weeks to someone being fired. Why should I give them the same?

Don't tell an employer you are interviewing with that you will leave your job today to start work with them. They will assume you will do that to them.
