Here is a quick how to tutorial on how to remove a radiator and isolate the pipework correctly / safely, please take care when doing this as the central heating water could be hot. It's a better idea to not run the boiler before you attempt this to prevent any accidents from happening.

Hi Dan, after I drained my radiators, "one at a time eight in all" I fitted brackets that allow my rads to tilt forward right to the floor without unscrewing any nut/Union with the rad full of water. I can even take them off in the tilted position with the radiator full. Best thing I ever did. I don't mind decorating now!!

You only need to cap it off with a stop end nut and no need for off set copper.

Hi, Great video and has been very useful. I've had the radiator off the wall and done what was needed. However, when I loosen the capping nut on the TRV side I'm getting water leakage and daren't remove it completely to re-attach to the rad. It wasn't leaking before the cap nut was fitted. Could it be because I had to re-pressurise the system (combi boiler)? Might losing some pressure help or has the valve on the TRV side mysteriously broken over the last few days?

Brilliant very good advice for me. Now i have good idea of what to do.

Can you not just cap the trv? Without the piece of pipe? Or isn't there a capping nut that size?

When you have the radiators isolated. Can you then use the heating system as normal? Or do the two ends have to be jointed together for the system to work? Thanks!

How do you isolate a radiator that doesn't have a TRV?

What do you do if you find stale old crusty customers pants and socks behind the radiator. Or even worse dirty literature Et cetera Et cetera. I tend to run up and down the road screaming. No amount of money's worth my health and sanity. Seen all sorts behind dreaded radiators 😭
