I learned this the hard way with my 01 tundra, I was going 50 when my wheel decided to depart from the truck, thankfully I skidded all the way into a construction entrance. Thank you for spreading this information! You’re saving lives!

Funny how the failed design still results in "buy oem anyway"

Keep in mind JoJo is not getting the parts and his reputation is tarnished now

Let's not act like these ball joints weren't making an audible warning long before.

It's not just the old ones you have to watch out for. Was on a mild trail when we met a brand new forerunner trd pro that had the front wheel fall off in the middle of nowhere putting the owner in a bind no service.

The thing I love most about my 2009 Tacoma trd is it. Seems like most of the parts are super cheap and easy to replace

Went off road to king of hammers in my 1999 dodge Durango. The number one broken vehicle was Toyota, 3 with ball joint failure. Definitely check and replace as he recommends

Total chaos makes a uniball conversion kit that goes on regular stock or long travel it is universal for both so you can get the any ball replacement but it's 1100 for two.. I just bought them

Mine was fix for free due to recall. My truck clapped turning in to the freeway.
Just call Toyota with your Vin number to find out

A little late for me. Mine snapped two days ago.

I know there was a recall on 1st gen Tundra ball joints. Toyota replaced mine around 30k miles. They were still good 150k later when I sold it.

The LBJs start failing once the boot is compromised. I've jumped my 4Runner numerous times, beat it up offroad and neglected the hell out of its maintenance. 450, 000 miles later, still trucking strong. Only one set of LBJs were done by Toyota at 221, 000 miles back when Toyota did a safety recall.

There is a beefy aftermarket heim unit thats absolutely overkill but at least its beefy and serviceable. Stick with OEM and replace when the boots start to leak.

Happened to me on the way to work. Steering Wheel started shaking like crazy and I had to 10-and-2 hold it to keep it stable at about 55, pulled into work and we have to park backwards, was gonna flip around and check out what the issue was, when I turned the wheel to the right my front right ball joint dropped out and my 4Runner was doin the stanky leg
