Because of our scorching sun, tinting has become less of a luxury and more of a necessity; even not for the sake of yourself, a good tint with strong heat rejection properties is useful in protecting the interior of your car from accelerated degraded due to heat.

Most cars in Malaysia are tinted, but many a time, the tints are illegal and will likely fail Puspakom inspection. Even if the tint was legal when installed, degradation over the years can also affect the visible light transmission index of the film and thus make it illegal as a result. Don't forget all the dirt and grime accumulated on the surface over the years.

There are many factors to consider when tinting your car, and here I ponder some as I prepare to have my E39 tinted to protect its fabulous interior plastics.

In my opinion, all car manufacturers no matter CBU or CKD should give a certification on their vehicle's windscreen and windows the VLT level by default before any tinting. The rest is up to the owner's discretion and tint companies to advise.

Reputable tint like v and H brand can last many years! The downside is dust will settle inbetween the tint and the glass over times! It's not about the darkenss, it's more about heat rejection of the film!
