Don’t know why I have to say this but none of these films are underrated. They’re all celebrated by cineastes.

This is an incredible list, both pawnbroker and Pumpkin Eater have been on my top 10 ever since I first saw them. I was shocked some of your choices, they were all truly amazing films. I read a couple of your comments and people are saying these were not underrated films but I was alive at the time actually seeing these movies in movie theaters, and they were incredibly overlooked most of these films are recognized now, but at the time I was the only person I knew that went to see any of these. Just like that I still go to movies alone. Really did appreciate the list

Boy the AI pronunciation of George C. Scott's name was strange. Deborah Kerr was pronounced incorrectly a few times too, but it least it was pronounced phonetically. George C. Scott's name was just butchered.

TWO FOR THE ROAD(1967) w/ Audrey Hepburn & Albert Finney. It's a bittersweet dramady on a 12-year marriage, that jumps back-and-forth in time. Funny, sad, trusting, betrayal, indifference and loving... in other words, a realistic take on marriage. If you've never seen it, see it. If you've seen it, see it again. It's more than worth the journey. Frederic Raphael penned the brilliant script, directed by Stanley Donen.

The 1963 movie "the haunting" was one of the most truly frightening movies ever made. 👍

Glad you included “The Innocents.” Far too many people I know have never heard of it. One minor correction, however: the main star’s last name is pronounced like “car.” (Sorry for sounding so pedantic.) “The Pumpkin Eater” is also excellent. The scene between Anne Bancroft and Yootha Joyce in the hair salon is unforgettable.

I'm not sure if this time period of films is of special interest to you, but the late 50s into the mid-70s it's actually my favorite time for film. So off the top of my head I thought of a list in case you were one of your subscribers actually likes films from this time, plus I get films from the library the New York Public Library has almost 37, 000 DVD titles if a film exists in DVD form then they have it you just order it and it comes to your branch. I have found films that aren't really available anywhere else anyway a list of films from that time period The Children's Hour, Toys in the Attic, the maids, the balcony Karma accident, the servant, the caretaker, our mother's house, Seance on a wet afternoon, The Whispers, which has the best performance I have ever seen in my entire life from Edith Evans, hat full of rain, our mother's house, victim, The Fugitive kind, baby doll, turn of trial, King & country, life for Ruth, whistle down the lane, the chalk Garden, the luck of Ginger Coffey, Sunday Bloody Sunday, sanctuary, Walk on the Wild Side. I think Sunday Bloody Sunday is the early seventies. I think it's known now because it's the first film where two men kiss. But if you are a fan of acting I would definitely recommend The Whispers, it is written and directed by Brian Forbes but that performance of hers is truly heartbreaking and wonderful also. I know this is a long list but like I said I really love movies from the 60s

Underrated? By who? When? If the critics of the day didn’t like it, tell us which of them missed the greatness. It’s too easy just to say that it wasn’t popular back then and leave it there. None of this list would be classed as underrated today, as your commentary told us. So the title is just click bait. With a title like this you should be picking films that you think are underrated today. Otherwise it’s a waste of time.

This video is very interesting, but it is harmed by the stilted, poor AI narration. A human narrator would have been much better.

Not sure Point Blank is underrated. Almost everyone I now loves this film.
As for underrated I could easil name 20. But let me start with Sam Fuller's Shock Corridor. IMO it is the sedond best American film from 1963, after only The Birds. Then let me mention two WONDERFUL Alexander Mackendrick films, A High Wind in Jamaica and Sammy Going South, aka A boy Ten feet tall.
Are Mr. Arkadin and Hatari underrated? I think so and both are terrific.
I know Joseph Losey's The Damned is underrated and it is one of the greatest sci fi movies ever made..
Is Welles' Falstaff underrated. If it is it shouldn't be. It is GREAT!

Excellent list! There are at least four films on here that I’m very interested in watching. I believe The Pumpkin Eater is on Tubi (free with very quick ads).

Saw all of those except Le Samouri and, surprisingly, Sister George given I'm a gay man. Great choices, though a very weird introductory montage.

The (AI?) narrator mispronounces so many names and titles...good grief...
