Last Night in Soho was one of my favorite movies of the year; the cast, the film editing, the costume designs, the cinematography--all created a world that completely mesmerized me, and what a role for Diana Rigg to end on. I would also recommend The Sparks Brothers as far as documentary, and another underrated Edgar Wright offering. Pure delight from beginning to end, even if you don't know the band Sparks (you certainly will after watching this lengthy homage to them).

Riders of Justice would definitely by high on my list of underrated/underwatched films of 2021. I'd also add The Rescue, Limbo, Shiva Baby and The Dry

Mariana, thank you so much for your recommendation of The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. I am an artist, and had not known his name; but am familiar with his work.
The film utilized costume, makeup, color, music and scenery to create a truly beautiful film. I would not have seen this film if it wasn’t for your list and review. Benedict Cumberbatch was wonderful, as well as the rest of the cast.
Oh, yes, painting and drawing with both hands… mind blowing!

What a grrrreat, pleasant and much needed surprise was to find your channel! There are so many film/series options that a person just gets lost. Yes, Netflix and Amazon, etc suggest titles, but their suggestions seemed biased and do not necessarily have important films, or maybe they do have them but are lost in the sea of titles. Thanks for your recommendations!

Thanks for making this list! Very diverse list of films and I look forward to checking out the ones I haven’t seen yet. For me, Riders of Justice is probably my favorite hidden gem of the year. I’ll also throw in one you didn’t mention: The Alpinist. An extraordinary documentary following the life and feats of Marc-Andre Leclerc.

I just watched this video and I have to agree COMPLETELY about Last Night In Soho. It was a great film, and the third act is exhilarating. The only real isue I had with it waa some of the CGI, but it was still eerie and surprising.

That being said, I have a lot to watch. Thank you!

Hello again 😄. It is fascinating to see how many hidden gems you could find in a single year. Maybe one of the repercussion of living in the Pandemic era. Now, if you are looking for ideas, then I'd suggest humbly to make a collection of a top under rated films of all time. keep the good work up!

Great list. I added electric life and violet to the watch list. Yes! Last Night in Soho and the Night house are both really good. I would also say Annette, Little fish and Coda are underrated. Even Last Duel and The Green Knight are too

If you haven't seen a foreign movie called the innocents that came out this year. If more people saw it it may not be considered underrated but I'd say it's criminally underrated it's a Norwegian horror/thriller about some children who discover they have telekinetic abilities. It's disturbing and so so so so so damn good. It's one of my favorites of the year, if not my favorite of the year overall.

thanks for mentioning nine days (which is my best of the year pick) a film that nobody is talking about but everyone should see. i was in the theater by myself when i saw it and was immersed in this film! the ending gets me choked up just thinking about it

When I learned Diana Rigg was in Last Night in Soho, I had to buy it. Her part is more significant than I imagined and I love this film.

two films from this year that left an impact on me after multiple watches are Little Fish (streaming on Hulu) starring Jack O'Connell and Olivia Cooke and The Paper Tigers (streaming on Netflix).
