Rick was right in my opinion. He wanted Negan to feel the pain that his victims felt by losing something or someone so special to them and it worked. Negan is a new man now all thanks to the guilt that Rick knew he would experience by keeping him alive so he can suffer just like he and the rest of his friends and family did.

Everything Rick was trying to build just completely flew over Daryl and Maggie’s head. I think after Rick “died” they felt bad because the weren’t grateful for him. It’s why Daryl left to be on his own for 6 plus years.

If you think about it Daryl is the one who got Glenn killed. Abraham was the cost for Negan’s outpost people. Glenn was just another example that Negan is serious and Rick’s group needed a second reason to understand that.

It’s sad to know this is the last time he sees him besides when Rick is on the bridge. Even tho Daryl was kinda mad at him in this it shows that Daryl did love Rick no matter what decision he made but sometimes it’s not the right decision
