After trying everything in this video 564 times with no luck I figured out what the issue was that was causing the "could not complete airtag setup - sign in with your Apple ID in settings" (despite being signed in already) for me. I have an old iPhone that I keep in my home gym solely as music player. I turned off "share my location", "find my", blutooth on that phone, and set it to airplane mode and BAM all the tags reconnected to my current phone!

So irritating I got a new iPhone and I can’t use AirTags anymore. The one I had set up for my keys no longer is showing up, and the new AirTag I want to use will not install either now.

The only solution that I found, was to go from current public software version 15.4.1 to Developer beta 15.5 beta 3. After updating, I signed out of iCloud and then I rebooted my phone. Signed back in after rebooting and then I tried the process of pairing my AirTag and I finally paired after doing all of this. (iPhone 13 Pro)

Super video. Just had to hard reset my IPad and the AirTags connected perfectly instead of asking me to sign into my Apple ID from the Settings menu, when actually I was signed in already.

Nothing new here. Just the basics such as making sure software is up to date, making sure Bluetooth and wifi are on, turning on Find My, etc. . Doesn't solve the problem when it's not something obvious.
