However, with time and use, lace can accumulate dirt, lose its luster, and even suffer from damage. To keep your lace looking pristine, it is crucial to practice regular cleaning and restoration techniques. Start by removing loose dirt and debris using a soft brush or by gently shaking the lace. For deep cleaning, handwashing is recommended to prevent any damage from harsh detergents or rough spinning cycles. Submerge the lace in a basin of lukewarm water mixed with a mild detergent, gently agitate, and rinse thoroughly. Once cleaned, carefully lay the lace onto a clean, absorbent towel without stretching or wringing, allowing it to air dry naturally. If your lace has lost its shape or developed creases, you can carefully press it using a low-temperature setting on an iron while placing a clean, damp cloth between the lace and the iron. Remember to store your lace in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and potential snagging to maintain its beauty for years to come.
