This video examines the unification model of scientific explanation. According to this model, to explain an event is essentially to show that it is relevantly similar to some other phenomenon that we already understand. Explanation unifies phenomena.

Kane B, these presentations are great! I see that the slides are available for some of the presentations but not others - would it be possible to get the slides for these? Thanks

Does the unification model require every explanation to ultimately boil down to a single (or small set of) scientific explanations or just a specific field. Like the video said that Newtonian physics now offers no explanatory power because it has been replaced by GR. Does the fact that physics is more fundamental than biology require all biological explanations to be facsimiles of physics explanations like Newtonian physics is?
