OK that's great for setting up a pc to connect to the vpn on the router that it's already physically connected to. What I'm trying to figure out is how to connect my phone to my network so even if I am away from home, it's as if it's still connected, where I can access my media and shared folders and printers.

Can there be one of these for OpenVPN, as it's secure? *As I finish typing, my question is answered. Always watch the video first. lol*

Apple disabled PPTP VPN client...i used to use PPTP VPN server for PPTP VPN client. Windows 10 still offers build in PPTP VPN client. PPTP VPN connection is not the most secured VPN but i find it convenient if i use Windows 10 or 7

Why would you want to connect locally to a vpn? This video might be useful if it showed how to set it up to access it outside the local network.

Thanks for this. I’ve been looking at ways to make my RDP connection to my home PC more secure while I’m on the road, and this will allow an additional layer of protection. I’d used DD-WRT in the past for the old WRT54 Linksys routers and heard that Tomato had this option with better performance. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. My only concern was router throughput while I’m actually at home on my home network and streaming on multiple devices or requiring a lot of bandwidth for downloading large files. How is router performance with Tomato compared to the stock firmware? Is there a noticeable difference in throughput? Great video!

thank you for sharing the info - very helpful. i have 2 offices with identical routers running under the same version of Tomato firmware and i'd like to interconnect these offices using Tomato PPTP VPN (pptp for now). i was able to set up a server on 1 router and a client on the other one, but networks still can't see each other. The "Client" router connects to the "Server" router w/o any issues; Under Routing on both routers i see the new routes being added with ppp interface, but the tracert doesn't go beyond the router if i ping hosts located at the other office. both offices have different private nets. appreciate your help in advance.
