Anime & Toon Shader tutorial in Blender & After Effects

This part is probably the most important step of the process and possibly the only one you’re interested in :D Watch how I create anime effects for my characters and learn how to achieve the same look.

Given my recent virginity loss in any type of video tutorial series, please bear with me. If anything is unclear, let me know in the comments, I’ll try to help as fast as I can by answering any questions you might have!

If you want to learn Anime and Toon shading in detail, I highly recommend watching Lightning Boy Studio videos as they go thru all the steps slowly and explain everything in amazing detail.

All the files of this and upcoming tutorials + other exclusive content is available on my Patreon:

He didnt just teach toon shader, he taught how to composite it so it looks hand animated too. Amazing. I was looking for it.

Excellent technique on letting the lines move like a drawing, companies should take note of this.

I love this! I've never been motivated to join anyone's patreon before but after seeing your trailer for your Animation The Fisherman I want to be part of your community and hopefully learn from you.
Do you have a lot of content on patreon?

Haa!
A Shoebill smoking a stogie. I'd watch whatever this guy is used in if it got to be a character in something.
😄👍

awesome work! But im curious why render out separate passes if it could all be done with shader nodes like in your eyeball tutorials?

Wanna know how this technique compare with EXR Multipass solution ?

hey thanks for this vid.. lots of fun stuff here. I'm sure its really annoying asking you a question on this video as you posted it a while ago..would it be a nightmare if I asked how you created the wobbly/boil effect?

Very smart workflow... but is it really necessary to have outlines on a separate layer?

Old video but at 8:30, why do you render the freestyle lines with the shadows and not just their own layer like you do in the next step?
