What's the difference between calcium & arginine alpha ketoglutarate (AKG)? Do they both have lifespan and healthspan benefits?

I get asked this a lot.... p.s as you may notice i've been experimenting a lot with YouTube videos, but just to reassure you, i'm not stopping with the more detailed animated videos :)

Some people already did self-experiments with both. AAKG decreased their measured epigenetic age too.

Thanks Sheekey!! That was on my mind because I could only find the Arginine AKG, at least at a price I could afford.

I heard in one interview that the calcium buffers the AKG making in more absorbable, while the Arg version is excreted quickly

I spent hours trying to figure this out. Really glad to see a short on the question. I think one of the hypothesis' is that the Ca version stays in the body longer or something like that, so it works better. Still AAKG is so so so much cheaper.

The AAKG is significantly cheaper especially in powder form (20 dollar for 300 grams). Why not try AAKG powder with 1 grams per day but intake it multiple times in a day just like Vitamin B?

The Calcium AKG Longevity (1g gram per 2 capsule serving, 60 capsules) by Prohealth is 22 dollar. So it's 10x more expansive than the AAKG powder.

Why not just simply intake AAKG powder into water 3-4 times per day? I assume it'll achieve same result?

Calcium has roles on membranes and cell permeability so I'd wonder if it could help in anyway AKG getting inside cells, where it's needed. Saying that, they probably just completely separate and are absorbed differently during and after digestion... So maybe calcium AKG is just a rip off when AAKG is much cheaper!

It is a good video. For me as a consumer and a non-biologist, this is clarifying. Science can be so tricky with all its nuances..

Great idea to produce Sheeky Shorts. This one helps to confirm my selection of CaAKG. Bioavailability and alternatives to ingestion (sublingual, IV, dermal patches, etc) to go lightly on liver function of targeted molecules might be good for shorts, too.

I do the AAkg,
Arginine helps produce nitrous oxide,
Which when we have enough of it,
We produce
Glutithion nitrous oxide,

Our lungs best cleaner.

We just had this discussion in our longevity group. Thank you for clarifying - although it's still not clear if AAKG is beneficial.

What about straight Alpha - Ketoglutarate acid vs the calcium version?

Shorter answer, buy Ca AKG for Rejuvenation/ Anti Aging stuff.

Buy A AKG for pre workout stuff.

I got the A AKG now. Thanks for the video

But what's better for, taking calcium is not recommended either, accumulates in arteries, etc.

Bulk Supplements sells ornithine-AKG as well. I use it in my "gym juice", mainly because it's very sour and masks the bad taste of BCAA's pretty well. If it has other health benefits, that's a pretty nice bonus.
