This is one of my favorite videos from you Drew! Thank you for doing it. Teaching people about the history of design is so important not to get trapped in the thought that new is better. Trends are rooted in history and the old can be refinished and refreshed rather than tossed. Please do more of these Drew ❤

I had a pink boucle suit in the 60s. It wasn't Chanel, but it looked just like one! My mom made it for me because I was a young teenager and wanted something grown up looking for my Easter suit. I remember going with her to pick out the fabric and just loving the texture of it. The lady in the fabric store said "You'll look just like Jackie Kennedy!" I wish!

My kitties are also fans of BOUCLE upholstery fabric. They transformed the fabric on their favorite nap-time chair into BOUCLE fabric.

It's so important for us to learn that there is historical context to everything. Educating ourselves and each other on history helps us to develop critical thinking.

One thing you didn't mention about Wallpaper was that during Victorian times it was made with Arsenic coining the term "death by wallpaper" it is even said to have contributed to Napoleon's death.... Great video Drew... very informative.

I loved this type of video. I don't necessarily care about keeping up with current trends but I love learning the back story of things.

Terrazzo is nice with added colour and patterns. My dad use to work with terrazzo in 1950s and we had it as flooring. So cool to lie on in summer. 🌺

Thanks for doing the research! I loved the video, Drew. Might you consider doing a video on some furniture style trends and where they originated?

Just a note: you said a while back that your sofa is “performance” bouclé, perfect for upholstery. Unfortunately, fast furniture isn’t always upholstered with this kind of sturdy, stain-resistant bouclé.

I loved this video and hope you’ll do more like it!

You could say wood paneling in general (incl. ship lap as a variation) is Northern European while limewash, arches and zellige are Mediterranean.
😊
(Arches were greek first though. Greek culture was before Roman culture.)

Love the education. Trends come & go but you have proven that choosing a timeless classic will never be out of style. Invest wisely in your most expensive investment-your home. Then you can have fun with your accents/accessories. You can do this often with color or fad trends & not break the bank. As always Drew, I turn to you for expert advice. I'm almost 70 yrs old & I simply can't wait for your weekly update video!! I love everything you do & say!!❤❤
