In this video I introduce bass players to more music theory. We discuss the relative minor to C Major, which is A minor, triads, a 1-5-6-4 chord progression in A minor, and different feels.

This is the equivalent of the old band tip jar:

Thank you so much for your great lessons - you really understand the art of imparting knowledge to others. From a grateful 76 year old Englishman who used to play bass in bands in the 60's/70's, gave up and has just started again with your help!
Steve I salute you, !

The best bass teacher online I've ever seen, and very easy to get what he's saying due to his white board works. Thank you so much for this

as an aspiring 50 year old bass player with about 1 year of practice so far (and school teacher btw), your lessons remind me of how effective white board lessons really are. We get so wrapped up in technology in order to change with the times, but the pace at which we process and retain information is about the same pace a teacher, instructor, or even professor writes on a chalk/white board. Harvard Professors still teach with chalkboards for a reason. I have learned more in 3 days of watching your lessons several times and playing along with your videos than I have learned on my own this past year combined. You Sir, have earned a new subscriber.

Simple language, peaceful pace and zero annoying video editing tricks: just a teacher and his white board. You're great Steve!
A friend of mine lent me his old bass just yesterday, so I was looking online for some beginner lessons to start with. You're a blessing! :D

Love from Italy!

Thanks! As a bassist playing for nearly 20 years, being self-taught with some theory through learning piano as a child, I missed some fundamentals that simply clicked watching this video which made me wish I took lessens like this sooner.

I stopped the video at 9.25 as I felt the need to post a comment. I'm 17 months into my new lockdown hobby. Entirely self taught thus far. I've managed to stay away from any sort of theory, focussing on playing from tabs until I can play from memory. Someone recommended this video series on a facebook post so I jumped in for a look. By 9.25 I shit you not I had an honest to goodness lightbulb moment.

Thanks for doing this brother. You make it easier for a dumb old truck driver to understand this stuff.

Steve, thanks for adding me into your lesson group. My son gifted me an electric acoustic 4 string to keep me from seizing up to the point of becoming a simple minded recliner king. I'm very laid back, and naturally stuck in turtle mode !
Your laid back, layman's terms teaching method is great for beginners like myself.
