I keep switching my Mac to iMac speakers, but every time I restart it, it defaults to external headphones. There does not appear to be a way to change or re-order this. Could someone please provide some advice?

I have a mbp and a samsung s34cg50 monitor connected with hdmi cord. I have my output set to the s34cg50 and the volume is up on the monitor but no sound. as soon as i switch to mbp speakers, there's sound. It's like the volume portion of settings isn't lit up when the monitor is selected like it is when the mbp speakers are selected.

I just connected a new external monitor, and no matter what I do it only will play sound from the monitor . When I click MacBook internal speakers it doesn’t switch sound to MacBook 🤷‍♂️ any help would be appreciated 🙏
