As a young screenwriter who's weirded out a bit by the idea of watching a new cast in the upcoming series, what about we put this pitch out there:

The series is one giant flashback. Harry, Ron and Hermione, and other characters - all played by their older original actors - share their experiences with the next generation, and fill in the gaps that the films left in the story of the books. Alterations can even be addressed;
Hermione: 'No no, Death Eaters didn't burn down The Burrow in our sixth year. Stop telling nonsense Ron, you're scaring the little one.'

I would love to show my kids the films I grew up on and love but then at the same time getting to enjoy the new series with them without it feeling like a full-blown retcon of the cinematic adaptation.
