I think I have been measuring rice wrong this entire time for years. The bag says 1/4 cup (45 grams) is a serving size. It says to make the rice use 1 cup. What's 1 cup? 1/4 x 4 Equals 1 cup (180 grams). 160 calories per 1/4 cup Equals 640 calories total. I guess where I am going wrong is this is an uncooked value, and I am actually eating more than the package says? So, after the rice is cooked is when I should be counting the grams? So how much have I actually been eating? Does 1 cup uncooked rice actually make double the rice so when I thought I was eating only 640 calories for 1 meal I am actually eating 1280 calories? I do have a scale but have only weighed uncooked rice. I have never weighed cooked.

I’m 155 trying gain few more pounds before I cut I’ve been eating a cup a day using the measuring cups is that fine or too much, also should I weigh it before cooking, and is it normal for rice to look so much more after cause a cup cooked for me is almost my full small pot

I am 5’8 230 pounds I usually weight 180 pounds . I haven’t been able to lose weight for two years . I just this week started eating 150 grams of chicken thigh, 1 cup of cooked rice and two cups of steamed broccoli. I eat this 3 times a day . I will add two scoops of whey protein next week when I hit the gym . My main concern is at 230 pounds will I be able to lose weight eating 3 cups of cooked rice a day? Or is that to many carbs ?

I was under eating I think. Package said serving size is 1/2 cup, that’s 48g of uncooked rice, Which has 39g of carbs. But I was still using 1/2 cup to measure the rice even after being cooked. Is that wrong ? If so, correct me.

My goal is to consume only 36g- 39g of carbs. Which is the serving size.

So if my goal weight is 150lb, I shouldn't exceed more than 100g of cooked rice? Is basmati white rice ok or do I have to switch to brown?
