Do you need an RTX Studio laptop for 3D?

On computex they presented the new line of laptops called Nvidia RTX studio laptop, we will see what they are and what they are not. Also some information on the new intel 10th gen cpus, and some of the new laptops presented oriented mostly for creators.

I wish these laptops would have a trackpoint. I use the trackpoints in my Lenovo workstation laptop with LW or 3dsmax, it comes in handy when you can't use a mouse.

I’m planning to buy one of those laptops (maybe the new Dell G5 2019 that has a lot of connectivity placed on the rear part and a good power/cost ratio) because I think that an esa-core cpu is just enough to work meanwhile rtx’x gpus hides a lot of potential (Otoy stated about 2-3X performance gain when render engines will be ready ) and can be easily integrated and upgraded externaly over the years with egpus.

I think with a 2060 would be enough for most of the stuff we'd to using a laptop and if you'd want to go hardcore... Some 2070/2080. The "studio" label is just a *name* to make people pay more for what they can do with the other ones. At the end, it'll depends of how you spend your hard earned money wisely.

I'm interested in ditching desktop in favor of laptop and dual external gpu setup for 3d and concept design. However laptops have limited cooling capabilites so I'm wondering is it a good choice in the long run. With laptops this powerful and external gpu capability I'm wondering why ppl are still using desktops.

RTX is quite useful for rendering, but these laptops with i7's i think is not worth it especially for 3D/VFX they're more like gaming laptops imo.
Zen2 is coming, can already "see" 12core ryzen 9 laptops + RTX for just under $3000 :D

I have 2 workstations one is the the dell T3610 which I upgraded with a quadro 6000 and another assembly computer with a vegas RTX 2080 and the performance is much better with the dell and when I try to render no problems at all so the RTX thing is a bull shit ....

Hola he estado viendo tus videos para saber que computador comprar y queria saber cual es tu opinion sobre esta oferta que encontre: un MACPRO5.1 usado con 40gb ram, 2 procesadores intel xeon de 4 nucleos cada uno, NVIDEA 512MB, monitor de 32 pulgadas, POR 1.100 USD. Teniendo en cuenta que soy arquitecta, uso autocad y 3dmax con vray. el pc viene con windows 10 instalado. agradeceria mucho tus comentarios. saludos desde colombia.
