Putin's war in Ukraine has forced Russia to adapt quickly and unpredictably, shifting it into a wartime economy. And while the Kremlin has managed to reduce the impact of economic sanctions, the resilience of the Russian economy has been struggling, and forced Moscow to make government reshuffles.

They have already lost more than 500, 000 working age men who have been away from their workplaces..and the war has cost hundreds of billions. Important trade relations have also collapsed. Good job.

Putin going all-in with Ukraine is like someone burning down their log cabin to keep warm.
Russia is already broken and Putin is making it much worse.

There may be a Bean counter, officially in charge of the MILITARY at the top, but make no mistake about it, if the military revolts, they will not be looking for leadership from the Bean counter. There are generals who could plot easily around the bean counter.

Belousov is a Soviet trained economist. That group doesn't have a stellar track record making an economy work. The Russian economy isn't doing well so much as being inflated. Since wages are not keeping pace, the real standard of living for average Russians is dropping fast.

Russia has an extensive history of defeating itself. I don't see former East Germany clamoring for the return of the USSR. Anymore, then Russia can keep its claws in Ukraine.

Even if Europe and the wider civilised world hadn't intervened I'm sure Putin would still be fighting this war. Russia wasnt up to it, never was. Even the Soviet Union (twice the size and several times the budget) couldnt sustain a war in Afghanistan. What the hell was Putin even thinking ?

Bismarck was a great German leader who united all separate states into 1 unified Germany in 1870 waging a victorious war against France ... Well he said : better have a quick decisive war than an war that lingers on ... I guess what we have learned with this UA war is :: Russia's army is not so strong and powerful as they try to show for. Russia was good in oppression with violence like in Hungary in 1955 and Tjecho Slavakya in 1968 wit brutal force as they knew the west would not interfere ... afraid of a wider confrontation during the cold war era ... But what we have learned now by the bold and coureagous resistance of the UA army is that this is a war of attrition on an industrial scale which means that who has the best weapons, the best strategy, the overall best army power will win this conflict and as it turns out : Russia is losing about 2000-3000 soldiers pro month and its armoured mil capacity is diminished at a staggering rate, not to mention the old hardware they start fighting with. They can't control the air space as they want to, and the UA are wizzards about drones which can now target right into mil / power stations inside Russia 1000-2000 km far. Summary : fooled by Russian national TV + propaganda, soon enough the Russians will experience themselves what this war is all about and that Putin is in dire need of a victory otherwise he may leave the Kremlin in a coffin instead because he knows exactly as a smart person he is literaly ruining his country !
