I live 45 mins SE of Chimney Rock/Lake Lure NC. I work(ed) a second job in Lake Lure. The local highway that went through Chimney Rock, Bat Cave and Gerton no longer exists... Most of the town of Chimney Rock is either obliterated or severely damaged. Swannanoa, Black Mountain, Montreat, Old Fort, Spruce Pine... All of these North Carolina towns took a shellacking that is beyond most people's ability to comprehend. Pray for us.

Wow! It only took a week for the national gaurd, a whopping $750 for the residents (even though they have no communications or power to access it) And FEMA is somehow out of money as well. Fantastic Job. Bravo.

My ex stepmom is there. I love her. When I was a kid spending summers at my dad's, she always made me feel special and not so alone in a strange place. And she could talk just like Donald Duck, which at 11, I thought was pretty cool.
