Umm….if the turn comes a 10, you DON’T make the nuts…you lose a huge stack to QJ.

I just seen one of your videos that tells me to fold these cards (8 7 suited). And here you’re suggesting we play them more often. 5 bad poker hands.

Regarding 8-7 suited and baby pocket pairs players need to play them effectively BUT also be skilled enough to know when to get away from them. That is the challenge for most intermediate players. I am a long term documented profitable recreational / semi pro at small and mid stakes player - not as good as Nathan - and I find those hands challenging but yes can be profitable. Pocket 88 and QJ suited ABSOLUTELY great hands. Love your videos just wanted to point out 87 suited and baby pairs need skill and know when to proceed with caution.

I liked this. Also, ive experienced success with these hands on 1/2 and 2/3 NL live games. If u could make a video going over poker ranges, applied in a cash game scenario we would appreciate it.

I played the 7 8 clubs, the flop was 6, 9, 10 clubs, another player bet into me going all in on the river, he had an A high flush. Most I have ever made by just calling all the way

I like 4/5s and 5/6s when 3 or more people call a raise pre flop good sneaky hand

I have a hate/hate relationship with QJ. I named it "pocket kickers" because either card is always someone else's kicker. It's tough to get a good price to chase what's usually a gut shot. That's going to involve broadway cards on the board, making big hands and therefore big bets and bad math.

The problem that I have playing A7s is that I have a hard time folding when the board flops or turns an Ace. Sometimes the ace is counterfeit and I have a difficult time folding top pair. It feels like being that "stupid" opponent you described against the guy with pocket 44s flopping a set.

I love pocket 8's. I only play the 1/2 table at my local casino. These videos are awesome and I said it before, really help. Awesome!

Ya baby! Local casino 1/2. I had the Gretzky on the BTN called 7x utg1 raise…Whatya know 9 on the flop. Utg bets pot and I shove he says “I can’t fold kings”…. I learned that one from you buddy! Good thing cuz I was down most of that session…

Nathan, totally agree with you on all 5. Just hit quads with the pocket 4s, of course it was set over set, he hit 10s on the flop also, but he bet small to keep me in and I was in check call mod with bottom set on the flop, river case 4, he shoved.
QJ suited I've hit 5 royals with it, so I'm almost always seeing a flop, which should hold true with any suited Broadway cards.

Just found your channel and some great tuition. I like playing J10 as opens up good options too.

Basically this video can be distilled to two types of hands — pocket pairs and suited connectors. He extended it to “5 types” on sheer willpower and sex appeal.

another great video!
in your blog posts you do some reviews for the various poker courses out there. you've done great reviews on Doug's, Daniels's and Phil's courses...
i was wondering if you had an opinion on Nick Howard's Poker Detox program.... the cost is maybe a little cheaper than the 3 i mention above. his approach focuses more on exploitive play based on data.... rather than GTO/solver stuff....

anyhoo, keep up the great stuff!

Most players are obsessed with the high end of the deck. Come at them low and you can usually take it to the bank. They can't fold a top pair, they can't even give you credit for middle or lower pairs. And I agree on sets; they are an easy way to go broke.

Everything sounds great, except the A7 suited. Just my opinion. I won't play anything besides A through 5 suited, and A through 10-K suited. I see your point with the flop presented, but if you hit an 8o, you are beat by 10/7o. However I see your point as well, and I would say it depends on the make up of the game and who's sitting with you. Thanks for all the valuable info. Headed from Reno to Vegas next week to play Aria, maybe Wynn. Dad taught me the game when I was about 8 years old. I'm almost 50 now, but never considered it as a full time profession. They say Keep your Day Job till your Night Job Pays. But even then, having either residual income always coming in, or a full-time job is probably the most secure way to be, with poker as a side hustle. I know people that quit the game not because they were losing but because of the recent cheating allegations and shady behavior being outted over the last few years. To each their own. Good luck to you always on the felt, and thanks for the videos. BTW: Pocket 8's are my favorite hand next to 89s at the 5/10 level.

I took #4 personally. I folded 44 preflop to a big raise. Would’ve hit the set on flop and rivered quads
