This video covers installing a newer kernel version in Debian 10 (buster).
We'll check on reasons to install a newer kernel, how to get it done and how to remove older, unused, versions.

When using the latest version of Debian 10 stable, also known as buster, even with all updates installed, by default, you can’t get the most recent kernel via the standard repositories in your package manager. While the idea of using Debian stable is to remain stable and rather conservative, there are several benefits with installing a newer kernel and in some cases it’s the only option to get the OS to support all your hardware.

I am about to receive a brand new laptop and am hoping to run Buster on it, at least until Bullseye has been out for a couple months or so. How does this method affect security updates or future kernel versions? Also, doesn't that command upgrade ALL packages from backport, not just the kernel to the latest versions from that repository?

Hi I have debian buster 10.10 and tried to add an update from my 4.19.0-6-amd64 kernel to 4.19.0-9 - which is a simple upgrade just for a test. The upgrade installed but with errors linux-headers and others could not be found for my kernel....when I booted into the kernel it failed....?

The problem is that my LAN/Wifi card is not listed when installing Debian (X570 Tomahawk mobo). I have no clue how I'm supposed to update the kernel other than with an internet connection. Can someone help?
