tbh the turn based isnt even that bad. i personally usually hate turn based combat in games but for some reason star rail is much more entertaining compared to any other turn based game ive tried

its good to note that they still do make sure you stay engaged and focused on your in the moment actions, since you are able to use your ultimates whenever, without the turn based constraint, letting you have freedom and having you rely on your instincts to time properly when you use it

I enjoy it, especially with the auto-battle function. I don't have the time to personally play Genshin anymore so it helps

This was exactly what I wanted, I found genshin difficult because I have a terrible reaction speed, And battle made gave me terrible adrenaline rushes, but Star rail fixes that, if I want a break in a battle to calm down, it is as easy as not attacking while on your turn, I have time to think, there is no rush other than Bailu telling me to commit violence or Gepard telling me to continue. Plus I can prepare before battles as the weaknesses show up above the enemies name, and you can see them on the map! Like if I see those weird pig guys that try run away, all it takes for me is to get a shield and blast it with my Hook and then hit em with my trailblazer a few times. It is great.

I love turn base because it gives you enough time to think of which enemies you want to hit next and it's much slower so I'm used to turn base games

It’s heavily inspired by the Trails games, awesome games, everyone should play them (easily the best world-building and overarching story games out there)

I think Starrail is also an experiment on Hoyoverse's side. If they can make turn based work with the gacha mechanic, then it opens up possibilities for much longer lived games. I'm thinking Persona 4 style, where you could easily come up with new enemies with unique challenges, and unique characters with unique gameplay, without being so restricted by the fast-paced gameplay and whales.

I never played turn-based games bc I’m uncultured, but I do play both Genshin and Honkai: Star Rail and I really like Honkai: Star Rail.
For Genshin I don’t really get to plan out how I’ll kill whatever, bc I’m just attacking but in HSS I actually get to use my brain for something useful- Turn-base in HSS is amazing, and I’m excited for more future games by HOYOVERSE

In Genshin, I love the puzzles, figuring out how they work and then solving them as previously planned

I feel the same with this game in general
Planning usual round rotations and adapting as the battle conditions change

I've been playing genshin for about a year and I've had fun but it still felt like it was missing a strategy element. I loved pokemon ultra moon and the battles were the best part for me. When I realized starrail had turn based combat with the story and visual elements from hoyo, I downloaded it and started a few days ago and I love it!

I used to play genshin ALL THE TIME, and i wasnt going to get honkai star rail, but after seeing the post-op conversation ad for the 50th time, i gave in, and i LOVE IT❤❤❤

I have played turn-based games before but after playing genshin for like 2 yrs, i'm so used to making my characters run, jump around and fall off cliffs that it feels kinda weird to not have a jump button or possibly fall off somewhere

The story is amazing and the combat is really fun! I recommend it if you love story and the stragety ofc!
