I stumbled upon HI3 in 2018 and I thought the game was so ahead of its time and really held mihoyo with a high regard after the release of Vermillion Knight. The OST, the characters, the story and the gameplay was something I did not expect from a free to play mobile game. Fast forward a few years mihoyo produce games like Genshin and Star Rail it's actually unbelievable. Finally, about time people start checking out Honkai Impact 3rd.

If you're only interested in the story, by all means, go ahead it's a great ride. If you're into competitive modes however, be ready to spend either a lot of time or a lot of money if you want to do well, because power creep runs rampant and every form of farming (there are _a lot_ of currencies) is extremely slow.

For people interested in the story aspect: The Otto Arc (which is 28 chapters!!!) is so good, especially later on, that the main viklain actially became my favourite villain in fiction. And all the cutscenes and music are so hype it's just worth to try.

Just want to add, unlike Genshin, HI3 events tend to not take itself seriously. Like for real, the HI3 devs refuse to take themselves seriously when it comes to events. Some past events feature, but are not limited to, Fall Guys, PvZ, Pokemon, and Puzzles. There's also 2D platformers, rougelike shooters, and yes even a parody of Honkai Impact 3rd itself. There are exceptions to this of course and they can also hit just as hard as the main story, looking at you "The Day You Vanished with the Stars".

Other than that, the main story is very very good. I, and probably many others, still regard one of HI3's villains as one of the best written villains in video games. Heck, I daresay Hoyoverse's best written character. Also, we have pink jesus, but that's a story for another day.

For those looking to play, I really hope you guys make it to the Flamechaser’s storyline. Honestly my favorite story and set of characters in recent years.

The story is Top tier. As a player for more than 4 years now I highly recommend

As a 4 years (and more) player, I'd say it worth to play honkai impact 3rd just for the story, its good. You will get trial character to use for story mode too! So you don't have to upgrade your characters just to clear story mode (unlike, say, PGR). The story is slow burner, just keep going until chapter 6-7.

If you want competitive, however, you will have to get ready to gacha, because the power creep is real now. At minimum, characters want their weapon, however, some want fullset to function (usually dps). And while you can farm some stuffs (and characters) the progress is pretty slow.

The game changed a lot for the better. One of the best changes, an Auto Done button for Daily resources. 1 thing I do hope is that current Chapters won't force shove us with too much Physics since as much as I enjoy the Final Cour of part 1, getting to the best part is a challange. Which is listening through all the dialogue

As a veteran player (been playing the game for 5 years), I'm happy that Honkai 3rd is getting more attention. Please give this game a try, you don't even need to pay in order to progress through the story.

This game has incredible gameplay with great character design, but the most beautiful things about it is its Story, OST, Cinematic Shorts etc

You will get yourself invested in the characters, following their story, seeing how the grow as a Valkyrie, and their relationship with each other

TBH, this is the first mobile game that makes me cry several times through out the chapters

If you guys willing to give it a try, believe me, it will worth your time

And for the Veteran Captain - "May All the Beauty be Blessed"

For our little Kiana - "May you, the Beauty of this World, Always Shine!"

Just a note everyone:
Welt is the only character who comes directly from HI3. The rest are just alternate universes…✨

Hi3s so good, the dailies are quick, old battlesuits at a point were revitalized (hope they do that again), and the story is phenomenal, especially ER. It's worth a shot really, people complain about powercreep but you don't have to worry about being competitive, you can chill at a normal abyss level and still get a nice amount of crystals. I joined in 2018, admittedly playing it a bit less now with Genshin and Star Rail, but if everyone really likes the HSR funny writing, it's very reminiscent of Honkai event writing, just like he says.

HI3 is rlly good with their story. The problem is that characters don't hold up very well in the meta. They last only a few months. New bosses have different weaknesses that some characters excel at. Look at the Valk starchasym nyx. She was easily one of the best characters in the meta. But then she got powercreeped very fast.

The story is amazing. And you don’t need to build any characters to progress. They give you characters to use. The only thing is that the lore is pretty complicated and to truly understand the game you have to read the mangas and as of ch 37 playing through Durandal’s VN. I do wish the EN servers for GGZ were still around because the story is amazing too.

The story is top tier, if you think the story in Genshin and HSR is good then the story in HI is totally awesome, very depressing but still awesome. Is not a joke to say I would make my children play this story, is interesting, is well-written, is sad, is funny, have many memorable characters who leave a strong perception of life.

Many people plays HSR and GI and maybe adding another one to their list will be difficult but I recommend you to give a try to the story, watch videos (there are channels with summaries or the complete chapter in yt), I can totally say you're going to enjoy the story if you get far from ch 5 (because the first 4 chapters are kinda boring)

Banger music, great story, awesome characters...

Also some fun facts.
The game producer who works on Honkai Star Rail is actually the same person who worked on Honkai Impact 3rd. Which is David Jiang. So, theres that.

And the lyrics from the banger song Wildfire is written by none other than TetraCalyx. This person has written and compose many Honkai songs for a while.

i played hi3 like a year ago (genshin being my first hoyo game) and honestly i really liked it. it was different from genshin and it was a breath of "fresh" air you could say although a few days/weeks after i quit mainly cuz i got overwhelmed with everything. there was A LOT to understand (especially coming from genshin where everything is like "simplified"). Even after watching guide videos on hi3, i still didn't understand how most of it works. it's most likely just me and skill issue lol, but looking at it now if i went genshin, hsr then hi3, i think ill appreciate and understand hi3 better.

Hey IWinToLose, thanks for covering HI3, in game I'm a top 100 player in both arena and abyss. Happy to give meta pointers if interested for different spending commitments if that is of any interest. In general though for most people the main thing is playing for the story. Its an incredible story and its one of the best stories I've played in any game. The writers have done a great job creating the lore for the entire Hoyoverse through a strong character driven journey that will completely change the way you see Genshin or HSR. The story can be played entirely for free and casually, no need to gacha or grind hard to be competitive, story mode is independent of meta, its done as a visual novel so the main thing is being comfortable with subtitles, but if that is no problem its a great way to relax and just enjoy a good heroic story.
