A step by step guide on how to enable the Resizable Bar on your system with Nvidia Graphic Cards series 3000 and above. It will not provide a massive boost to performance, but it does help.

ReBar as it is often called is only compatible with selected CPU's, motherboards and GPU's. Check the details in the link below for your system compatibility.

A motherboard bios update WILL reset your bios settings in almost every case. I simply restored my previously saved settings from a USB stick. This was on an Asus ROG Maximus XII Formula which can save in text mode.

This worked wonders on my RTX 3080 FE and Jedi Survivor is now staying in 70+ FPS most of the time. Love it.

Thank Marc, I'd never heard about this until your video popped up. Anyway, I've manged it for an FE3080ti adapting your instruction a little. Fortunately I've got an ASUS motherboard too and recently changed to GPT so was good to go. The nvidia updater kept saying the card was unsupported, but when I changed the BIOS settings as per your video I went back to check the GPU properties and the BAR now says YES. So I think I'm all good. Thanks for the guide.

Thx, I managed to do it, due to your guide. Had to firmware update my 3080 card, first timer ever to do that. Fortunantly my monterborde didn't need an update.

Great video, with your help I was able to enable Resizable BAR in my system (3070). I thought enabling it in BIOS was enough and was surprised to see it disabled in the nVidia control panel info window. As you said, in VR even a few fps more (or less microstuttering) can make a difference.

I came here and I've enabled it on my 3070, I've gained over, 20 fps across the board in starfield after it's recent update

An important note is on the new Intel GPUs this is absolutely REQUIRED. Not enabling it will lose up to 25% performance. That's a wild amount. At 144hz that is 36 fps lost just for not enabling a setting that has no negative consequences. On Nvidia and AMD, it's not so important. A few FPS and less stuttering. But definitely required for Intel.

Ty, researching atm to determine if I want to do this on a 2600 and B350.

Excellent explanation Marc. Did it. Even I get heartattacks when flashing a 3090 card🤣
Take care bud

When updating the VBIOS for my 3070 MSI Ventus X3, my screen was blank and stayed that way the first time i tried to update it. I thought it was bricked. Luckily it still booted when i reset. I tried to update it again and the same thing happened, except this time i was advised to press the "y" key after a while has passed and i was sure it had installed correctly. Sure enough the system came right back to life, screen came on, and then it initiated a restart. Everything was installed and fine after that. If this is you, try pressing the "y" key.

My actual fps gains were difficult to measure, as it varied from set up to set up. Estimated 1-3fps. However it did seem less prone to those tiny micro-stutters than without, but that is a subjective observation. I suspect not designed for top end GPU’s with loads of memory (24gb). NV Inspector (flags) had no impact on my results.

in other video mention nvinspector profiler, because in the profile rbar disabled in default

FWIW I did this a while back and I had to force update my bios for some reason the ASUS desktop app wasn't detecting that my bios was out of date but booting into the bios and noting the version against what is published for my motherboard. So I had to download it and flash it manually.

You may only see 2-3 FPS but what you may see is a reduction in artifacts and stutters, and may notice even more gains on lessor cards than the 3090. And more importantly a reduction in load on the PCIe channels and CPU. Its not all about FPS but over all smoothness and responsiveness.

GPUz is a easy useful tool to check resizable bar and other card settings.

Thanks for the great info. Too bad MSI doesn't support this vrebar for its 3060 12gb non Ti cards.

Enabled it on my 3080 Ti and didn't notice much of a difference. But I'm getting right around 50-52 FPS in VR with Reverb G2 and DX11. Haven't tried DX12. Most game settings on ULTRA except Clouds which I keep at HIGH. Thanks for the video!
