92% of PC Gamers Forget to Enable This
On all modern GPUs there's a setting which can increase performance substantially, but surprisingly it's usually off by default.

In order to turn it on just head to your BIOS

Go to the “Advanced” tab.

Search for “PCI Configuration”.

Enable “Above 4G Decoding” & “Resize-BAR Support”.

And now your PC should be giving you higher FPS in games that support it. So if you built or bought a new PC don’t forget…

For all the experts here who have opinions about what A4GD does:
It allows the BIOS and OS to use memory address space above the 32-bit limit (4G) for hardware. This means that the system can allocate resources above the normal limit so the hardware can have a better chance of having its own unshared space and more space if needed. Thus reducing the amount of operations needed for a given function and increasing performance. This is important for things like resizable BAR because that feature allows the CPU to access the GPU’s entire frame buffer in a single operation (instead of just 256MB chunks). Giving hardware access to memory addresses above 4GB is necessary for Resizable BAR to work.

Warning: rebar is not compatible with CSM.

It's not enabled by default because on NVIDIA GPUs it can cause problems and even make some games run slower. For me it only causes stability problems and nothing else. RTX 3060 is my GPU, so be careful with enabling that thing.

Fun Fact:
You can enable this on older generation of GPU's too without any issues.
(it will not give any performance increase, but you can still enable it).

All to in bios is:
1. Turn on XMP/EXPO profile
2. If you are AM5, turn on Memory Context Restore and Power Down on Enable for faster boot.
3. Set up PWM with your preferences.
Good job, you have your PC perfectly working and dont need anything else until you are professiona overclocker.

Using a X570 dark hero, 5900X and a 3080Ti, whenever I’ve enabled it cause massive system instability and crashes!

above 4G decoding is recomended if you had more than 1 GPU installed on your motherboard.

with out 4g and resizable bar i have 290fps when i enble 4g and Resizable bar my fps go down to 65

Yeah bud you don't actually know what you're talking about, in order to do that you have to make sure you have a gpt partition instead of mbr and a few other things, it's not just flip a switch and it's on.

Don’t forget first you NEED to make sure your os will work with csm disabled

It’s a pain, there’s a few more settings to change in the UEFI like APIC mode 2x and that works only for newly installed system, so you have to enable that before installing Windows as far as I‘ve read about it.

I didn't know about it for years, but after enabling it, I get strange stutters, more like rubberbanding locally.

This is great for Amd GPU, you can get a lot of performance with this, but with Nvidia it’s worst in some cases and when it’s supported the difference is irrelevant.

This made me go through so many loops. Went to enable this in my bios. Found it kept removing my boot drives. Then I enabled csm with bar enabled and borked everything. I thought maybe my bios was bad so I ended up flashing it to the latest version. That didn't help, But then found that for resizable bar you need to use GPT format for booting with it enabled. So I guess I gotta update my OS now so I can enable that. I'll do it eventually when I reinstall windows someday.

However, the bios update did improve my 5950x performance by around 10% my bios revision must have had issues with the cpu

It depends. My current combo (R5 5600, RX 6800) performs consistently worse with resizable bar/SAM on. It's all full of stutters and relatively low GPU usage (70% on vs 98-99% off)

It depends on the game

The only game I care about consistently pushing max frames is CS2, and in that game its either no change or a slight detriment to performance

This fixed my pc, i had the worst stutters and fps drops, now its flawless
