Doing the homework/assignments is crucial to succeed in a math degree. Some math problems (at uni) can take days to solve, so it's important to stick with them and not give up. Review the lecture materials to make sure you understand everything that's asked in the assignment. Try to find similarities in lecture materials and the problem, and think how you can exploit it. If you don't see it right away, try to find examples for the situation of the problem. Trying to find different examples of things in math is one of the most important paths to understanding. Over time, you will expand your thinking and the mathematics you study will begin to appear natural.

When I was in college, I took an engineering and physical science aptitude test administered by a State university.
I scored very high, so you might think math would be very easy for me. I took quite a few math courses. I could do well if worked at them, but I had to work. I did not think math was easy compared to other courses. Too this day, I think achieving in math is a very significant accomplishment.

I wanted to study mathematics but never got the opportunity and also I don't think so I have that acumen that mathematics study warrants. But I believe that when a nation has good mathematicians, it prospers and one solid example was USSR. It's very humble of you to say that you are an average kind of a person, but in reality one has to be very intelligent to pursue a career in mathematics. I think that to truly be good at something you need to really dive in and go that extra mile. To finish an Ironman competition I had to workout every morning 7 days a week, no days off, go to work, come home and do school work, then set up for the next morning's workout. Rinse and repeat until you get to the finish line. Now if I could actually do as much math as you did I might get ahead in my math studies, but nope laying here watching YouTube, lol!

Im still enduring lots of additions and regrouping additions and Place Value obsessively so far so good!
